Gardner's 70 wins Rose Creek and $1650 |
Congratulations to Kevin Gardner of Marietta, OK, the only player to beat his hcp under treacherous conditions at Tour 18-Rose Creek GC in Edmond Saturday. The 40 degree temperatures and 30mph north wind did not deter the field of 35 players as everyone showed up for this event! Some interesting facts after 3 events...all three winners were seniors who played the tips even though they could have moved up a tee box with a 2 stroke deduction in course handicap...there have been 153 rounds played and only 4 scores have been recorded under net par or roughly 1 of every 40 scores turned in...there is already $1530 in the bonus pool, which projects to more than $25,000 in bonus cash to top 20 points winners! |

Reinhardt wins 2nd event of 2012 and $2390 with net score of -1.5 @ Buffalo Creek |
Michael Reinhardt of Ft. Worth, TX fired a gross score of +2 (73) Saturday at Buffalo Creek GC dominate the field of 45 players and cash a big paycheck of $2390. The 48 year old 3.5 handicap showed the field how to make the big bucks as he won both sides of the Nassau ($390 on a $40 entry fee, we will call it 10X payback!), the Sr. Net and the Net Divisions to total $2390, which was nearly 10X his entry fee as well. Great job, Mike! The event paid 11 spots with the last place money finisher shooting a net score of 76.2 (+5.2) on the par 71 layout. There have been 118 rds played on the tour in 2 events and so far only 3 players have beat their handicap! Come join us next Saturday at Rose Creek GC in Edmond, OK because "If You Don't Tee It Up You Can't Win!" |

56 Yr Old Jack Akins only player in RED numbers...wins $2695 from record 73 player field with a net score of 70 at Waterchase |
Congratulations to 7 year FairWay Tour vet Jack Akins, who won both the Net and Sr. Net divisions and was the only player to break net par with a score of 70 at Waterchase GC in Arlington, TX. The 5 handicap has battled health issues on and off since becoming a member in January 2005 but that didn't stop him on this day as he won the event by 2.3 strokes over second place finisher Dax Gregg. Jack played the tips and shot a gross score of 75 to take home $2695. The weather turned out to be quite nice in the afternoon with diminishing winds and a temperature in the mid-50's...but the early tee times were a bit unfavorable. The temperature was 39 degrees with a 15 mph NW breeze when the first group headed to the #1 tee box. 19 spots were paid and the last place money winner, zero handicapper Logan Waldrip, shot a net and gross score of 76, which was also good enough for 2nd place in the Scratch Division. The 73 player SINGLE FLIGHT event was the largest ever in the 11 year history of the tour. Be sure to check out the new look website and Red River Points Race...don't forget how to get the MOST points: *50 POINTS FOR MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL. *15 points for signing up by Monday prior to event *10 pts for signing up by Thursday prior (space available) *5 pts for signing up after Thursday (space available) *5 points for paying online deposit or full entry by Wednesday prior to event. As a special footnote, the tour was honored to have 7-time PGA Tour winner and current Champions Tour player Bill Glasson as one of its participants for this event. The goal of the USGA when they established the handicap system was to create an even field for competition so a player like Glasson, with a +3 handicap, can compete against the 7 handicapper working a full time job. The FairWay Golf Tour accomplished that goal on Saturday. This tour is quickly gaining a reputation in the region as THE BEST GOLF COMPETITION NO MATTER YOUR SKILL LEVEL, as long as you are a 12 or less HCP! If Bill Glasson recognizes the value of quality competition, then we hope you will too! Join us at the course soon because "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN!" |

2012 has thirteen 2-Day Events on the calendar! $25,000 in BONUS CASH projected payout to top 20 points WINNERS!! |
2012 looks to be a banner year for FairWay Tour players. We will be featuring a total of thirteen two day events and 35+ one day events in Texas and Oklahoma. There will also be a three day 54-hole event in Las Vegas and the Red River Cup Championship will be 54 holes played over two days at WinStar Golf Club's 27-hole layout the final weekend of the season on the Red River. The tour is growing at a very rapid pace. Golfers throughout the region are finding out about us every day thanks to internet/social media, longevity and, most importantly, word of mouth from the players who have experienced our tour in past years. The first 1-Day event of 2012 will be Jan. 21st. The FairWay Tour will have more two day events this year. We will be featuring one 2-day event per month starting in late February. These events will alternate between Major ($400 entry & $5000 to winner w/40+) and Super Major ($595 entry & $10,000 to winner w/44+) each month with one day events virtually every week in between from January 21st thru the 54-Hole Red River Championship in November. Don't forget if you are unable to play both days in our majors, we have regular 1-day events each day so you will never be left out in 2012. The FairWay Golf Tour has proven over the last dozen years to have an incredibly accurate handicap system (we must use decimal points to eliminate multiple ties at every event) and MOST generous pay matrix. The Red River Cup payout is projected to pay $25K+ in BONUS CASH to our 20 most successful and loyal players with a possible $7,500+ in BONUS CASH going to the points winner. This cash is paid on top of the already best paying prize fund for each event. In 2011, we paid $377,863 to our members. The tour format puts everyone in a SINGLE FLIGHT with a 12 or less handicap, which gives the players a chance to win MORE MONEY...We have now paid almost $2.1 MILLION in prize money to our players since 2001 and we are the longest active tour of its kind in the U.S.A. Our average WINNING NET SCORE for the ten MAJORS played in 2011 was -0.10...or virtually EVEN PAR!!! We are now licensed by the USGA as a "club affiliate" and qualified to apply the USGA Handicap Formula to our handicapped events. We believe these unique qualities brought to you by this tour, along with the fact we offer far more events in which to participate each season than any of our competitors, will make it difficult for players to miss this opportunity in 2012. We hope to see you at the course January 21st because "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN!" |

FairWay Tour licensed as "club affiliate" by USGA |
The FairWay Tour recently received its license to operate as a "club affiliate" by the USGA. These are the same credentials all golf courses must have if they are using the USGA's GHIN Handicapping System. The license requires testing and ensures the player that the tour director is skilled at performing his duties as handicap administrator and is following the guidelines set forth by the USGA. If you play a handicap tour other than the FairWay Tour be sure to ask if they have received their license to apply the USGA HANDICAP FORMULA to handicapped tournament competition. |

Aycock Wins Red River Championship with net score of 147 (+3); Copeland wins Red River Cup and $3000 bonus check as tour passes goal of $10,000 |
Congratulations to Brad Aycock of Durant, OK, winner of the 2011 Red River Championship. The 0.0 handicap fired gross and net scores of 78-69 to finish at 147 and take home appx $3000 from the field of 18 players who braved terrible conditions at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club. The tour also congratulates Jeremy Copeland of Edmond, OK, winner of 2012 Red River Cup Points Race. We reached our goal of $10,000 in the pool with a total of $10,025!!! Jeremy received $3000 of that cash with the remaining $7025 going to the rest of the top 10. We thank you for supporting our record setting 2011 season as nearly $400,000 was paid to our members. We expect major growth once again next year and a new goal of $20,000 in the points pool. Come join the hottest tour around in 2012 because the more you play, the more we pay! |

Bean survives fierce winds at Bridlewood to win $1180 with net score of +2 |
Kyle Bean has played 27 times on the FairWay Tour since February of 2010 and got his first win Saturday at Bridlewood with a net score of +2. The golf course became close to unplayable for a brief period as winds gusted around 50 mph when a cold front blew through North Texas just about the time the first group headed to the tee box. Kyle beat Chris Brown by 1 stroke to claim the victory with 18 players braving the conditions. Interestingly, Kyle had the highest handicap in the field at 11.0 and Chris, an Adams Tight Lies Tour winner earlier this year, had the lowest at +1.0. Chris had an incredible round of even par working thru 17 holes but double bogeyed the nearly impossible 18th, a par 4 at 466 yds playing about 600 yds into a 35-50 mph north wind, to give Bean the victory. There is $9740 in the Red River Cup Bonus Pool with one event remaining. Major #6, the Red River Cup Championship, will be held Dec 3-4 at Chickasaw Pointe GC on Lake Texoma and we hope to see you there because "If you don't tee it up you can't win!" |

Schroeder edges out net par at -0.9 and wins $4195 at Diamondback GC |
Brandon Schroeder first played the FairWay Tour October 10, 2002 and has recorded 25 tournament scores in 2011 but never before had won a major...Last week at Boiling Springs, he passed three players in the Red River Cup points race by participating in the event and moved into third place, which will pay roughly $10,000 in bonus cash to the top ten points winners. And this week he hit the jackpot by winning nearly $5000 and his first major. Like most of us, Brandon has struggled with his game for much of the season and was contemplating stashing his clubs for the year before deciding to play last week. I guess you could say that decision paid off as he finally cashed the big check. Congratulations, Brandon, for believing in your game and knowing eventually your time would come. Please note that if Brandon had chosen not to play in those events, he would have also slipped to at best 8th in the points race and in line for a $500 bonus check...Instead, he has moved past Paul Aycock all the way to 2nd place and if he can hold that position will receive a $2000 bonus check! In short, the first 22 rounds of golf this year on the tour did not turn out the very best for Brandon but the last two weekends not only built his confidence, it also replenished his golf account. Brandon's handicap has also dipped from the mid 5's to the mid 3's, which is part of the tour's mission statement..."to improve one's game thru competition". We hope you can make it this Saturday for our last 1-Day event of the season at the newly renovated Bridlewood GC in Flower Mound, TX because I am certain Brandon Schroeder will tell you ..."IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN"! |

Glasson wins again as nobody breaks par for 2nd event in a row...Schroeder jumps from 6th to 3rd in Points Race |
Max Glasson is the first back to back winner on the FairWay Tour this year and he did so without ever breaking his handicap. Max fired a 36 hole total of 144.4 or 2.4 over par to collect $1700 over the weekend at Boiling Springs GC in Woodward, OK. In the last 156 rounds on the tour, including Super Major #3 at Tangle Ridge, there have been 2 players finish under their handicap...and one of those players eagled the last hole to get below his hcp and that eagle earned him $10,000. The other player fired a gross score of 66 on the 2nd round of Super Major #3 to get below his hcp by 6 tenths of a stroke. In short, the FairWay Tour handicap system continually spits out incredibly close finishes and gives half the field or more a chance to win in rd 2 of all our majors. Also noteworthy is the fact that Brandon Schroeder leapfrogged two players to move into 3rd place in the points race...with a net score of +5 on round 2 that was good enough for 2nd place in the 1-DAY NET on Sunday and earned him an extra 40 points added to the 40 points he got for playing in the major and both 1-day events. Our next event is this weekend at Diamondback GC in Abilene, TX and it is worth double points as well so if you want to make your move in the RED RIVER CUP STANDINGS and earn bonus cash come join us because "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN!" |

Glasson wins at Emerald Falls with 72.7 |
Max Glasson fired a gross score of 77 under extreme conditions Saturday at Emerald Falls Golf Club in Broken Arrow, OK. Glasson, a Stillwater native and son of former PGA Tour player and current Senior PGA Tour star Bill Glasson, was able to play close to his 4.3 handicap under very difficult conditions. As always, it was close at the top. The winning score of 72.7 was followed by 73.5 and 74.2. The 8 player field was the smallest of the year and had to endure 40 mph winds and temps in the low 50's much of the afternoon. Even so, the tour paid 3 spots and the winner received $600 and 65 Red River bonus points...not bad for an afternoon of golf! Please note the new "share this" links on ANY page of the website. Just click one of the logos and send that page of the website to friends via one of the social networking options of your choice. We hope this makes it easier for all to tell others about the fast growing tour. Our next event will be a first of its kind 2-Day Mini Major at Boiling Springs GC in Woodward, OK November 12-13. The 36-hole event will pay $2000 to the winner with 20 players and $3000 to the winner with 30 players and a minimum one in four players will receive a check! The online entry fee of $315 includes green fees for 36 holes. The short, hilly and tight course with superb undulating bent grass greens is very challenging and fun to play. Points will be double for the Red River Cup, which now has over $9000 in it to be paid to the top 10 points winners at the end of the year. If you are close to the top of this list it could pay off big time to enter this event or any of the remaining events on the 2011 calendar. We hope to see you there because "If you don't tee it up you can't win!" |

King Eagles 18 to break his handicap and win $10,000 with 142.5 net score on par 144 Tangle Ridge GC |
Congratulations to Corby King, the 1 handicap fired a net score of 142.5 on the par 144 Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Cedar Hill, TX. The weather was near perfect both days and the course was in good condition. Corby won in dramatic fashion by nailing a fast breaking slider for eagle on the last hole to edge out hard charging Derek Watson by less than a stroke and collect a total of $10,350. "Had it not gone in I was looking at a possible par because it was moving fast", King said with a wide grin on his face as the results were tallied. The final standings were so close that if he ended up with par on the hole he would have finished 6th and collected $1150 instead of $10,000...WOW!!! King was a 1.5 handicap on day 1 but a net score of 72.5 dropped him to a 1 handicap for day 2 even though he trailed first round leader Rocky Milhem by almost 6 strokes. But King made the eagle on 18 for a gross score of 71 and a net score of 70...good enough to collect the winner's check! Watson, a +1.6 hcp, fired gross scores of 75 on Saturday and 66 on Sunday. He was the only other player to break his handicap at 143.4 and received a $5,000 check for his efforts. What a fantastic finish to an event that literally any of the 648 players with a scoring history on the FairWay Tour could have won. The field of 54 players was the largest 2-Day Event ever and the money was absolutely there for the taking!! The tour is adding players each week and now has 782 players in its database. We have now paid $2,054,675 to our members since 2001 and are poised to break the record single year payout of $344,199 in 2004. And finally, there is now $8,975 in the prize fund for the top ten points winners in the Red River Cup Bonus Pool. We are going to be extremely close to reaching our goal of paying $10,000 in bonus cash to the top 10 points winners. Those in the top 20 can climb the chart by continuing to participate in remaining events and those in the top 10 can move into the top 3 as outside commitments are preventing 2 of the top 4 in the current standings from participating in the remainder of our events as one is scheduled for surgery and the other is a hunting guide. The Top 5 finishers in the remaining events receive the same amount of bonus points regardless of the size of the field! We hope to see you at our next event because...Ask Corby King... "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN! |

Super Major #3 selling out sign up NOW to win $10,000! Torres collects $1090 in West Texas with net score of -0.5 |
We want YOU to have the opportunity to play in our next event...the FairWay Tour Championship at Tangle Ridge GC in Grand Prairie, TX October 29-30. We have added 10 spots for a maximum field of 54 players. We will be paired in threesomes for pace of play and player convenience. There are still 4 spots remaining for this tournament, which will pay $10,000 to the winner and minimum 10 spots with 44 or more players and 13 spots with an unprecedented maximum 54 players...This weekend could provide the biggest payout in the 10-yr history of the tour. The record was set earlier this year at Stonebridge CC, where 48 players produced a payout of $33,270...$12,000 of which went to Michael Gatz, winner of Super Major #1. Could YOU be the next $12,000 WINNER? One thing is certain, "If you don't tee it up you can't win!" Ask Mike Torres...the 2.5 hcp collected $1090 by posting a net score of 69.5 to edge out three players who shot net scores of even par 70 at Shady Oaks GC in Baird, TX Sunday. 5 places were paid in the 17 player field. If you are from West Texas, or North Texas for that matter, and did not make this event you missed a golden opportunity to make $1000+ while enjoying a gorgeous afternoon of tax deductible golf as the weather was perfect and the course was absolutely there for the taking at 6250 yds with three reachable par 5's! So if next weekend doesn't make your calendar with the 5-day forecast showing 72 and sunny BOTH days and a possible $10,000+ payday waiting then why have a set of golf clubs? Come join the competition! |

Jones wins at Hawks Creek, Rare tie for first at Rose Creek as Super Major #3 only 11 days away |
Marshall Jones fired an even par 72 at Hawks Creek GC in Ft. Worth Saturday for a net score of 68 and a sweet payday of $1905 with 35 players. On Sunday in OKC, William Belknap and Robert Parker fired matching net scores of 70 to collect $990 apiece from the 27 player field at Tour 18-Rose Creek GC. The weather was ideal for golf both days with highs in the lo 80's. There is now $8120 in the Red River Cup Points Pool with four 2-Day events and three one day events remaining on the 2011 calendar. Our goal of $10,000 in the pool may still be reached with some cooperation from the weather. The tour will be playing Shady Oaks GC in Baird, TX this Sunday before possibly our biggest event of the year...Super Major #3, the FairWay Tour Championship at Tangle Ridge GC Oct 29-30. First place will be $10,000 with 44 or more players. Please register NOW or reply to secure your spot in the field because "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN!" |

Grossart (1.5 hcp) wins $1600+ at Twin Lakes GC; Red River Cup overflowing with Cash! |
Twin Lakes Golf Course in Canton, TX was in perfect shape and so was the weather for last Sunday's event. Don Grossart took advantage of the conditions posting a gross score of 70 to win by 3 strokes over Mike Valenzuela. There were just 19 players for this event because of its location but don't think small field means small payout! Grossart won money in everything he entered dominating the net and nassau divisions and also winning the scratch division. Throw in 2 skins and Grossart made $1641...great job Donald! The FGT calendar for the remainder of the year is now finalized with the only exception being possibly Bridlewood Nov 26th depending on the condition of the greens when they re-open November 1st. It is our commitment to bring you quality golf on courses that are in the best shape possible...which is why the calendar is always fluid on the FairWay Tour. This week's event at Quicksand GC in San Angelo will be re-scheduled for next year due to circumstances beyond our control. Our next West Texas event will be at Shady Oaks GC near Abilene, TX on October 23rd. We hope our new players from that region will continue to support the tour so we can bring quality pro golf to your area on a consistent basis. The weekend of Oct.15-16 will feature two 1-day events with Saturday's tourney at Hawk's Creek GC in Ft. Worth (in great shape) and Sunday's event at Tour 18 - Rose Creek (in great shape) in Edmond, OK. Now is the time to enjoy the fall weather and get your name in the top 10 of the points standings for the RED RIVER CUP...which is starting to overflow with nearly $8000 of BONUS CASH inside...There are still five 1-Day events and four Majors to be played...we are optimistic our goal of $10,000 may still be reached. This cash will be be paid out immediately following the RED RIVER CUP CHAMPIONSHIP Dec 3-4 @ CHICKASAW POINTE GC on the RED RIVER! Come play the next event in your area because "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN!" |

Dornick Hills CC keeps 45-Player field in check as net score of +0.5 wins $7150 |
Built in 1913, Dornick Hills CC is truly a work of art that has withstood the test of time. The 6500 yd par 70 course once again provided a great test as no player was able beat their hcp over two rounds in Major #4. Jeremy Copeland was the closest, shooting a 2-Day Total of 140.5, which gave him a winner's check of $7150 and a commanding lead in the Red River Cup Points Race. A net score of +6.1 cashed a check on this beautiful and deceptively difficult gem in Ardmore, OK. As I stated just last week in my newsletter, the scoring on the FairWay Tour traditionally gets higher with the fall season. 5 players were able to break their handicap on Saturday and 3 of those players were seniors. But Sunday was a different story as the final foursome featured three players with inexperience playing for the big bucks on the FairWay Tour. Jeremy Copeland, however, has been a member of the tour for 8 years and had won 3 majors prior to Sunday's final round. This experience paid off for Copeland as he was able to hold it together for the victory. |

Thorntree CC Sunday for $35! 2 of 43 players break handicap under perfect conditions at 2 separate events |
The FairWay Tour played under perfect conditions at Coyote Ridge on Saturday in Carrollton, TX and Sunday at Forest Ridge Golf Club in Broken Arrow, OK. As stated in my last newsletter, scoring on the FairWay Tour traditionally gets higher with the Fall season. Abdurrahim Kuzu and Paul Aycock somehow solved the extremely fast and bumpy bermuda greens at Coyote Ridge and were the only 2 of 43 players to break their handicap for the weekend. Kuzu edged out Aycock Saturday with a net score of -3.2 to take home $1375 with a field of 25 players. A net score of +3 cashed a check Saturday at Coyote Ridge...On Sunday at Forest Ridge, Andrew McCarther edged out Bryan DonCarlos with a net score of +0.6, which was good for $1000 with an 18 player field. A net score of +4 cashed a check for $200 and 5 spots were paid!! The FairWay Tour goes to West Texas this Saturday to play Bentwood CC in San Angelo. On Sunday in Dallas, the tour will play Thorntree CC, another private facility and site of numerous Byron Nelson Qualifiers...for only 35 bucks! This event is on the same weekend as the Club Championship, which should leave the course in perfect condition for our Sunday afternoon tee time. Major #4 will be played September 24-25 at Dornick Hills CC in Ardmore, OK, yet another private facility located 95 miles north of Dallas and 95 miles south of OKC. This famous Perry Maxwell design is a favorite of FairWay tour players and is home to "The Maxwell" an annual Division 1 college event. The short, tricky par 70 layout will give every player in the field a chance. We hope to see you at the course this weekend because "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN!" |

Rogers wins at Chickasaw Pointe; FairWay Tour closes in on $2 million mark |
Mark Rogers finally found his game at Chickasaw Pointe Saturday. He birdied holes 14, 15 and 16 for a back nine 34 to take home first place money on the last day of 100 degree plus temperatures...which should mark the end of the brutal Summer of 2011. The remainder of the year should be very interesting with the calendar changing to hopefully an extended fall season of beautiful golf weather. The FairWay Tour schedule extends into December with the Red River Cup Championship to be played on the RED RIVER at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club Dec 3-4. The Tour is closing fast on the $2 million mark in payouts with a total of $1,962,244 paid to ONE FLIGHT OF GOLFERS WITH A HANDICAP OF 12 OR LESS SINCE 2001. We have have the most accurate handicap system and are the longest active tour of its kind with the most generous pay matrix. This year we have already paid $240,735 to our members with lots of serious golf still to be played. On top of that, there is now $6,525 in the BONUS POOL to be paid to the top 10 points winners at the end of the year. With your continued support, we hope to reach our goal of giving $10,000 plus in bonus cash to the top 10 points winners. I will be writing these checks at the conclusion of the Red River Cup Championship on Dec. 4th. We hope to see you this weekend at Coyote Ridge GC in Carrollton, TX on Saturday, September 10th at noon or Forest Ridge GC in Broken Arrow, OK Sunday, September 11th at noon...these golf courses are in immaculate condition and provide a stiff test as +2 won earlier this year at Coyote Ridge and -1.2 won our last event at Forest Ridge in 2010. Traditionally, with the fall season comes higher scores as the combination of summer conditions and lowerd handicaps make for higher scores with the change in weather. We hope to see you there because "If you don't tee it up you can't win!" |

Cook Fires Career Round to Win at Waterchase |
Congratulations to Robbie Cook, who enters the winner's circle after 23 events on the FairWay Tour with his lowest round by 3 strokes of the 33 recorded scores being used by the handicap system. The 4.8 handicap fired a gross score of 71 to record the lowest winning net score of the season for a 1-day event with a round of 66.8...great job Robbie! Since the USGA considers anything lower than 5 below net par an EXCEPTIONAL tornament score, Robbie's 71 will be entered TWICE into the system for a period of three rounds per the FairWay Tour policy for Veteran Players (more than 20 scores). If Robbie fires a score greater than 2 below net par during those three rounds it will remain for another three rounds to insure the integrity of an equal playing field. Robbie was not the ony player, however, to shoot a low score Saturday. Conditions were perfect with no wind and Waterchase was in excellent shape, which allowed several players to record low scores. Even so, if you broke your handicap, as always, you cashed a check on the FairWay Tour! We hope to see you this Saturday, September 3rd, on the cliffs above Lake Texoma where we will be playing Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club. This course is in immmaculate condition with perfect greens and is really a must play...we hope to see you there. If you played in Major #2 earlier this year at Chickasaw Pointe you may use your day 2 rainout green fee to play this event. |

Gregg shoots -2.5 at The Paiute and takes home $5185 from World Class Resort |
Congratulations to Dax Gregg, the most consistent golfer in the field at the world class Paiute Golf Resort in Las Vegas, NV. Dax took home $5185 with rounds of 71.2 and 70.3 on the stunningly beautiful and immaculately conditioned golf course 30 miles north of Las Vegas. Every player in the field enjoyed this venue with bent greens running an 11 on the stimpmeter and a welcome break from the stifling heat here in Oklahoma and Texas. I don't think anyone broke a sweat with the breezy and dry conditions. Bryan DonCarlos set the pace on Saturday with a 2 under par 70 on the Snow Course to cap out at 67. The 3.2 handicap could not hold it together on Sunday and finished second with a score of 143.8...the only other player to break net par. We hope the players who took advantage of this event will tell others how great it really was (more than one player told me it was the best course they've ever played) so next year our 54-HOLE EVENT ON ALL THREE COURSES will be even more successful. We hope to see you this Saturday at 10am for our next event at Waterchase GC in Arlington, TX. |

Schroeder sinks 80 ft birdie putt on 18 @ TPC to shoot less than 1 stroke under net par and collect $1940; Las Vegas Paiute Super Major next on schedule |
Congratulations to Brandon Schroeder, who nailed an 80 ft birdie putt on the 18th at TPC to shoot a net score of 69.2 on the par 70 layout and collect $1940. "Nobody would take me as a best ball partner!" was Schroeder's comment after the round...he could have won the best ball by himself as a net score of +1 was good enough to win that division. Everyone knows by now that the FairWay Tour has the most accurate handicap system in golf. With over ten years of experience running these events, I can tell you these last four months of the season will produce higher winning scores and even closer results as everyone's handicap has settled on their number after 7 months of competition. We hope you can capitalize on this opportunity to play competitive golf thru December and have an equal chance to take home the cash at every event! Super Major #2 is next on the schedule. This event will be played at The Paiute Golf Resort in Las Vegas. 1st place is currently $5000. Make this Vegas trip your most memorable ever by teeing at Pete Dye's famous resort AND taking home a WINNING PAYDAY from Las Vegas for a change by PLAYING GOLF!!! 10-Yr Vet Lillard Wins Rose Creek; TPC sold out but plenty of room for Super Major #2 in Las Vegas! |
Doug Lillard fired a net score of 68.2 in 110 degree heat on Saturday at Rose Creek GC in Edmond, OK to edge out Shawn Misner and take home the $1000 winner's check. Doug has played the FairWay Tour since November 2001 and the 77 at Rose Creek was his 3rd best score of the 250+ rounds he has recorded. Great job Doug! The TPC event this weekend is already sold out but the feature event of the 2011 season is only a few weeks away! Super Major #2 August 20-21 at The Paiute Las Vegas (this course in perfect shape) still has plenty of space available. 1st place is $5000 plus with 20 or more players! So far there is an intimate group of 22 players signed up for this event...none of which are below a 2 handicap. 2-day events require more consistent play but with the scratch players missing it should make an even more interesting competition! This is your great OPPORTUNITY to make that $5000+ PAYDAY a Las Vegas REALITY instead of your annual pipe dream Las Vegas gambling junket...Dont' miss it! Reply or contact Burt Rieck at 405-203-GOLF to get your spot. |

Gatz captures Super Major #1 title and $12,000 with net score of 143.4 |
Michael Gatz, a 3.3 handicap from Union City, Oklahoma fired a 1 over par 73 on Sunday for a net score of 69.7 and a total score of 143.4 on the beautiful and difficult par 144 Dye course at Stonebridge CC to capture his first major on the FairWay Tour. The $12,000 Mike collected (as we reported earlier in the week could happen with a full field of 48 players) set a record for a single player in a single event on the tour...Congratulations Michael! The course was as playable as a 76.6/146 rated course could be with hot, benign conditions and soft, perfect greens. Even so, only three players broke net par (all by less than 1 stroke) in what was essentially a photo finish as Bobby Stark took 2nd with a net score of 143.6 and Derek Watson third at 143.7. A net score of +6 was good enough to cash last place money even with the great, yet hot conditions and very tolerable pace of play as the field went out in threesomes. We want to thank the Head Pro, Joe Menton, for doing an absolutely splendid job of providing the best service possible for our event. We hope to see you soon because "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN"! |

There will also be lots of day games giving ONE PLAYER the chance to win $12,000 plus in a single event with a full field of ONLY 44 players! 44-1 odds at worst for a $10,000+ payday playing golf doesn't come around very often. We hope you can take advantage of this opportunity because "If You Don't Tee It Up You Can't Win!" Congratulations to Shane Whitekiller of Sallisaw, OK, winner of our last event Sunday, July 17th at Cherry Springs Golf Club in Tahlequah, OK. Shane fired a net score of 68.5 to clip the field of 17 players and cash a check for $1060. The tour was happy with the turnout for this event as Tahlequah is located in extreme Eastern Oklahoma. This event was part of an effort to expand the logistics of our rapidly growing weekend competition. |

Schwartz's 66 (net 65.5) @ Sky Creek Ranch lowest gross and net scores of season on FairWay Tour |
Phil Schwartz could have been a +3 handicap on Sunday at Sky Creek Ranch and it would not have mattered as he dominated the field of 40 golfers with an amazing round of 66. The 50ish yr old high school teacher and golf coach played the back tee box on the Robert Trent Jones design and really took it to the field, winning by four strokes. Phil recorded the lowest gross and net scores of the year on the FairWay Tour and did so in impressive fashion on a difficult track (136 slope rating) with the tees back on every hole. The course was in perfect condition on a great day for golf, yet only four players managed to break their handicap. The next month and a half brings some really fine golf as we will be playing Super Major #1 @ Stonebridge CC (Dye) on July 23-24 and Super Major #2 on two separate courses (Snow and Wolf) @ The Paiute Las Vegas August 20-21. These courses are some of Pete Dye's best designs and we are making it a quadruple play when you throw in the 1-Day Event @ TPC Las Colinas, home of the Byron Nelson Classic. Where else are you going to compete on a total of 4 different Pete Dye courses in less than a month? We hope you can take advantage of this opportunity to play for BIG CASH on BIG TIME COURSES! First place at each of the Super Majors will be $10,000 with a full field of 40 players. Come join us at our next event because "If you don't tee it up you can't win!" |

Benson fires -2 at SugarTree GC and collects $1650 |
Bryce Benson, a +0.2 handicap from Arlington, TX, fired a gross score of 68 on the tight and hilly SugarTree GC Saturday in Lipan, TX to win 1st place and a check for $1650. The young pro has been very consistent with a 2nd place finish at WinStar in his last start. He also won with a net score of +2 earlier this year at Coyote Ridge and with the win on Sunday becomes only the 2nd player this year to win more than once in a 1-Day Net Event. Congratulations Bryce on a fine round! POLICY AMENDMENT: The FairWay Tour has the most accurate handicap system in golf...This policy amendment is in accordance with USGA Policy and will be used to further establish the accuracy and integrity of player handicaps on the FairWay Tour. Starting July 4th, ALL verifiable tournament scores may be entered into a player's scoring history. For example, if a player competes in an outside event, such as another handicap tour, scratch tour or other verifiable competition, that score may be added to the player's scoring history. The USGA says there should be no discriminating WHERE the player shot his tournament score. The FairWay Tour agrees and also believes ALL available verifiable TOURNAMENT SCORES should be entered. Non-tournament scores are not entered into the FairWay Tour System. Come join us on Sunday, July 10th at Sky Creek Ranch GC in Keller, TX. The Robert T. Jones design is in immaculate condition. The $70 green fee includes a $39 practice round and voucher to play the course again any time after the tournament during the week for a cart fee only! We hope to see you at this event. |

LAS VEGAS SUPER MAJOR FINALIZED; Fairchild fires net score of -1.5 to win at Sugar Creek Canyon |
Congratulations to Mark Fairchild of Elk City, OK, winner of Sunday's event at Sugar Creek Canyon in Hinton, OK and a first time winner on the FairWay Tour. The tour has played 24 events so far this year and Mark becomes the 22nd winner! Only two players have won multiple events on our tour this year...Super Major #2 in Las Vegas has been finalized...we will be playing 2800 FT ABOVE STRESS LEVEL at Pete Dye's Paiute Las Vegas! Reply to this newsletter or call 405-203-4653 to get your spot in this unique event, which requires a $200 deposit by July 31st. These courses will be in immaculate condition. Don't miss this opportunity to take a Las Vegas vacation and PAY FOR EVERYTHING with your golf game!! The entry fee is $795 and includes all course fees and entry fee along with breakfast both days at the course! 1st place will be $5000 with 20 players and $10,000 with 40 players. The Red River Cup Points Race is in full swing with Paul Aycock the leader with 520 points, but Jeremy Copeland and Michael Gatz are hot on his tail! With half the season remaining, anyone can win the Red River Cup and a bonus check projected to be around $3,000! There will be a bonus payout to top 10 in final standings projected to be appx. $10,000. All you have to do is be a regular participant and get a couple of wins!! The money list is as close as the scoring in our events with the top 3 money leaders naturally being the winners of our three majors so far this year. Once you get past them, the money list is very tight with any of a number of players poised to break out from the pack with our 2 Super Majors (Stonebridge Dye and The Paiute)on the horizon. These events have the best payout ratio ($500 per player in prize fund!) as the winners of these events will surely be in the race for the Red River Cup and money title. We hope to see you at the course very soon because "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN!" |

Belknap (-2.9) wins 27-hole Iron Man Challenge and $3150 |
Congratulations to William Belknap of Lindsay, OK, winner of the 2011 Iron Man Challenge at WinStar World Casinos Golf Course on the Red River. William, a 5 handicap and FairWay Tour member since March 9, 2002, earned $3150 from the record field of 56 players on Sunday, which equaled 10X his entry fee from our MOST GENEROUS pay matrix. The 14th place finisher, Troy Mangone, earned $315 or 100% payback of the entry fee, which included all course costs. The scoring was unbelievably close as 21 players, more than a third of the field, shot between 110.1 and 112.1 on the par 108 layout and 5 players (8.9%) managed to beat their handicap. Come join us in the next 2 weeks as we will be playing sorta out in the boonies in Oklahoma and Texas. Sugar Creek Canyon is a fun course about 30 minutes west of OKC and we will be there Sunday, June 26th. The following weekend the tour plays Sugartree GC in Lipan, TX on Saturday, July 2nd. This course has received multiple awards for being one of the best conditioned courses in the state. We hope to see you at our next event because "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN!" |

Douthit plays last 5 holes 5 under to win Stonebridge Event and $1425; WinStar 27 Hole Iron Man Event to be played Sunday |
Congratulations to Andrew Douthit, winner of the Stonebridge Ranch event on Sunday, June 12th and $1425. The 1 handicap was three over par thru 13 holes and 2 strokes out of LAST PLACE money but finished his round birdie, par, eagle, birdie, birdie to get his first victory on the FairWay Tour. People are always asking, "What do I have to do to win?" Well, 5 under for your last 5 holes would be a good answer... 95% of the time you probably just need to play a little better. However, my hat is also off to Bill Steadham, a senior who played the forward tees and fired the low round of the day, a gross score of 69. The 3 handicap was limited to 2 under net par as he did not have enough tournament rounds recorded in the system to qualify for a lower score. But Bill still cashed a check for over $900. His third place finish in the net, first place finish in the senior net, back nine nassau winner and two skins worth $66 apiece turned out to be a nice day's work despite the adjustment. The competition on the FairWay Tour is hot and intense, as the handicaps tighten with each tournament and the summer months bringing the big money events. If your handicap has gone down, join the crowd as anyone with money beside their name on the MONEY LIST is likely playing with a lower handicap too...So if you can't stand the heat, better stay off the course! There are still two Super Majors and three Majors to be played. The first Super Major will be July 23-24 at Stonebridge CC Dye Course and the second on August 20-21 at The Paiute in Las Vegas, also a PETE DYE SIGNATURE COURSE. These events pay $10,000 to the winner with 44 players! We hope to see you at the 27-Hole Iron Man Event at WinStar this Sunday, where we will be starting at 11:30. The entry fee of $315 includes green fees and all taxes. 1st place with 40 players receives $3000 for this event, basically 10X your entry fee all in one day's work! And remember, "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN!" |

McMillan ($5800) and Carlson ($2320) shoot 70...one stroke from course record by KJ Choi at Old American |
Congratulations to Robert McMillan, teaching pro from Colleyville, TX, who took home a large cash prize of $5800 as champion of Major #3 held at The Tribute and Old American golf courses in Frisco, TX. The highest drama involved the switch in course conditions and scoring. On Saturday at The Tribute, there were lots of low numbers as a total of 14 players broke net par on the defenseless course. Trent Whitekiller fired a gross score of 67 as a tune up for his sectional US Open qualifier today at D.A.C. However, the +2 handicap was edged out in the 1-Day Net Saturday as Jamison Badders fired a 69 with a 1.8 hcp to win 1st place in that division. Day 1 of the 2-Day Event was a high handicappers paradise as well with Gary Allen, sporting a 12 hcp, firing a net score of -5 to take the lead going into Sunday. A quick check of the leaderboard reveals how treacherous the Old American can be as scores soared and by Sunday afternoon only 4 players had finished under net par and only 2 players (our top 2 finishers) completed 36 holes with a gross score in red numbers. The field was treated to hot, but perfect, conditions both days, but especially Sunday with a rare calm afternoon on the shores of Lake Lewisville. McMillan, who also won the Sr. Net Division, and Drew Carlson each fired gross scores of -1 (70) from the very tips on the 75.9/144 par 71 layout to get within one stroke of Choi's record. Very nice playing! Come join us this weekend as the tour goes to Stonebridge Ranch to play the Arthur Hills Course, home of the 2011 Byron Nelson Qualifier. |

The Tribute AND The Old American Host Major #3 this Weekend!! Threet Wins @ OU Golf Course |
Don't miss what should be a great weekend of golf June 4-5 as the tour goes to The Colony, TX for Major #3 at 2 different golf courses. Saturday we will play The Tribute and Sunday The Old American, its private sister right across the street. This event will be the best value for your dollar so far this season. Green fee rates at these spectacular golf courses are $125 and $150...you play BOTH for $150. 1st place is already up to $3000 and most likely will be around $5000 come Saturday. Sign up by Tuesday at 5pm for this tourney and get max points, which are double for this event. There is close to $4000 already in the pool to pay top 10 points winners at the end of the year. This is the event to catch up in points as the top 2 in the current standings are unable to play this week. Players may choose to play in 1-Day Net either day if they are unable to play in the Major both days. We will take entries for 1-Day events on space available basis beginning Thursday morning. Congrats to Kacey Threet of Grove, OK, who picked up his 2nd win this year on the FairWay Tour by firing a gross score of 71 Saturday at the Jimmie Austin OU GC. The 2.8 handicap was impressive as he has only been playing golf for three years. Add to that the fact the tee boxes were tipped out to 7,349 and the wind was up at around 25mph. The golf course was the 2nd we have played this year that the tour would call in "tour condition", with the other being Ponce DeLeon in Hot Springs Village, AR. We hope to see you at the course this weekend for what should be the 3rd and 4th courses this year we would call in tour condition. And remember, "If You Don't Tee It Up You Can't Win"! |

Beall's 70.9 Wins $2000; Major #3 June 4-5 Will Be Held @ 2 Courses...The Tribute Saturday and The Old American Sunday |
Congratulations to Jonathan Beall, who fired a 70.9 to win his first event on the FairWay Tour and a check for $2000. His score edged out a pair of 71.1's and a 71.8 to take home the large cash prize from the field of 45 players at Tierra Verde Golf club in Arlington, TX. Jonathan tried giving the win to someone else when he signed for a score that was one stroke higher than he actually shot. He was lucky because less than a stroke separated 2nd from 6th...this time it did not cost him a penny but next time you can be sure he checks his card thoroughly! It is a great time to be playing the tour as the turnout has been nice with great payouts at every event and winning scores within everyone's reach. We are now getting into the heart of the season and we are pleased to announce even higher quality courses are on the horizon starting this weekend! Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club is the home of the University of Oklahoma Golf Team and site of the USGA's Public Links Championship. The USGA holds its events at only the best courses. SIGN UP BY MONDAY, MAY 23rd at 9PM to get max RED RIVER POINTS still projected to pay $10,000 in bonus cash at the end of the year! After that, Major #3 (double Red River points!) will be held June 4th and 5th at The Tribute on Saturday, site of several Senior PGA Tour events and a FairWay Tour favorite, and The Old American CC right across the street on Sunday, a great challenge voted to "Top 100 Best New Courses" by GOLF Magazine...Green fee rates for FairWay Tour players at these courses is $75 per day, which is half the normal rate! Then it stays awesome as the tour plays Stonebridge Ranch CC (hills) 6/12, site of Byron Nelson Qualifying and Stonebridge CC (dye) on July 23-24, site of the US Open Qualifier this year among other large events and site of our tour's first Super Major of 2011 on that date. The calendar really heats up in August as we will play TPC @ Las Colinas, site of Byron Nelson Classic, on August 6th and will travel to Las Vegas August 20th for Super Major #2...stay tuned for all the details on this event, which will be finalized this week. We appreciate your support and hope to see you at the course again real soon because "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN! |

Tierra Verde to Be Played Saturday, May 21st; Drain Shoots 69 to Win Battle Creek and McCoy Shoots 70 to Win Ponce Deleon |
Travis Drain and Derik McCoy won FairWay Tour events this past weekend in Tulsa, OK and Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Travis, a zero handicap, shot a back nine 32 for a gross and net score of 69 at Battle Creek GC on Saturday, good enough for first place and a total check of $1360. The Tour held its first ever event in Arkasas on Sunday at Ponce DeLeon GC in Hot Springs Village. If you haven't played the Hot Springs courses it is definitely worth the trip as this course featured zoysia fairways and bent greens and was in tour condition. McCoy, playing his home course, fired a gross score of 71 for a net score of 70 and a check for $953 with a first time field of 10 players! |

Graham Wins First West Texas Event @ Diamondback GC With Net Score of -2 |
Congratulations to Mark Graham of Fort Smith, Arkansas, winner of the FairWay Tour's first event in West Texas and a total of $1230.00. The tourney was a success as the 1 handicap shot a gross score of 70 on the par 71 layout designed and ran hands on by Charles Coody. Scoring was close like always on the FairWay Tour as Derek Watson, a +0.5, shot a gross score of 70 for a net score of 70.5 to take home second place money. This event went close to the chalk as the 2 lowest handicaps in the field of 24 took 1st and 2nd place and were the only players to break net par (their gross scores were also under par) on a beautiful day for golf. Rounding out the top six to finish in the money (actually 7 as their was a tie for 6th) were scores of even par 71 (9 hcp), 71.8 (1.2 hcp), 71.9 (1.1 hcp), 72 (2 hcp) and 72 (8 hcp)...The accuracy of this tour's handicap system requires using decimal points when calculating a player's course handicap from their handicap index (hcp index times slope rating/113 = course hcp) as there would have been a 2-way tie for 2nd and 4-way tie for fourth at this event using whole numbers. A quick look at past results from 2011 and beyond reveals the same to be true at almost every tournament played. The FairWay Tour believes it is necessary to identify a winner as often as possible. The best stat I can find for scoring in a net event is this...the string of consecutive events on the FAIRWAY TOUR where shooting your hcp cashes a check has now reached 35 straight tournaments dating to last June when 71.9 (.1 under!) finished last place in the money 6/26/10 at Winter Creek CC. Also, 14 of the 24 players entered in the West Texas event received some type of return on their investment. And finally, one last stat worth noting: The FAIRWAY TOUR has paid $106,187 to ONLY 93 players (all players in same flight with 12 or less hcp) so far in 2011, easily the largest payout in the business. Please go to our website, which is also the best, where you will find 10 years worth of scoring and data, along with player stats, current and career proactive money lists ($1,827,696 and counting pd since 2001) and more. The season is warming up as we continue to provide competition at the highest quality courses in your area. This week's events will be played at Battle Creek GC in Broken Arrow, OK Saturday and our first Arkansas event at the beautiful Ponce DeLeon CC in Hot Springs Village. Our next MAJOR will be played at 2 incredible courses in the Dallas area. Saturday, June 3rd we will play The Tribute GC and Sunday June 4th we will play The Old American, voted one of the best new courses in the U.S.A. Our friends at these courses are offering a total green fee rate of $150 for BOTH COURSES, which is the normal rate for playing the Old American alone!! Register now for this event or any event online at www.fairwaygolftour.com . We hope to see you at our next event because one thing is for sure...IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN! |

Aycock Wins Rain-Shortened Major #2 and $4500+ with Net Score of -1.5 |
For only the third time in its 10-yr existence and the first time in a Major the FairWay Tour was forced by Mother Nature to enact its Rain Policy of recognizing a winner if a minimum half the holes are completed. Paul Aycock took advantage of perfect conditions on Saturday to shoot a net score of 70.5 at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club. But as the saying goes in Oklahoma, If you don't like the weather, hang around a minute...Sunday brought torrential downpours, lightning and winds gusting past 50mph. After 2 rain delays the course became unplayable and Aycock was declared the winner of the rain shortened event. We apologize for the delay in posting the results as the webmaster must create an entry for a 36-Hole rain shortened event. The career money list has been completed and may be viewed on the Tour Stats Page of the website. The tour has paid over $1.8 million to 404 players since 2001! Come join us this weekend for our first W. Texas event to be held at Diamondback Golf Club in Abilene, TX. We hope to see you there. |

Major #2 this Weekend @ Chickasaw Pointe; Buffalo Creek in Great Shape as Workman Wins $1600+ With Net Score of -2 |
Jason Workman of Arlington, TX fired a gross score of 75 on Saturday at Buffalo Creek to take home the Winner's Check of $1600 from the field of 38 players. Nice playing Jason! The scoring looks pretty much the same for this event as it has for all the events played so far this year. With 15 1-Day Net Events completed in 2011, here's a few numbers to check out...The AVG WINNING SCORE is -2.6 and the AVG HIGH SCORE TO FINISH IN MONEY is +2.3. The lowest winning score is -4.6 at Bridlewood and the highest winning score is +2 at Coyote Ridge. You can expect to cash a check every time if you shoot near your hcp as the lowest score to finish last place in the money is +0.7 at Frisco Lakes and the highest is +7.1 at Coyote Ridge. The Tour has paid almost $90,000 in prize money over 16 events with only 1 of 8 scheduled majors completed. Check out and compare our money list as the tour's MOST GENEROUS PAY MATRIX makes this list look very attractive. We are on pace to break the record of $344,199 paid out in 2004. And finally, we are getting close to the $3,000 mark in Red River Cup Bonus Cash...again with only 1 0f 8 majors completed. Perfect Conditions at Fairfax as Johnston Fires -3 to Win; Buffalo Creek April 23rd Best Value So Far This Year |
60 Year Old Charles Johnston finally broke out of his year-long slump to win the event at Fairfax GC Saturday and collect a total of $1740. Charles shed his back brace and took advantage of the perfect conditions, short course and extra strokes by electing to play the back tee box (Charles got 7 strokes from the front and 9 strokes from the back tee) and fired a gross score of +6 under perfect conditions at the 6,498 yard Fairfax Golf Club in Edmond, OK. The par 70 layout was there for the taking but yielded only three net scores under par on Saturday. Charles beat Robbie Gipson of Sallisaw by 2 tenths of a stroke. The difference came on the 18th, where Robbie chose to layup by hitting 4 iron off the tee on the reachable 514 yard par 5. The plan backfired as Robbie ended up bogeying the hole, which cost him first place in the Net, Sr. Net and Back Nine Nassau Divisions. Come join us next weekend at Buffalo Creek GC in Rockwall, TX, where the bent grass greens are currently in perfect condition and the $64 rate has been lowered to $35 for FairWay Tour players! This course is a great test as it has hosted several events, including US Open Qualifying. Sign up by Monday evening at 9pm and get the maximum 15 Red River Cup Points for early registration. Speaking of Red River Points, Major #2 is only two weeks away and will be played ON the Red River at Lake Texoma's Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club. The challenging, scenic venue is rated "Top 50 courses in America for under $50". Points will double for this event and there is currently $2435 in the Pool, which is still projected to pay appx. $10,000 to the top ten in the points standings at the end of the year. Play the FairWay Tour and it is very possible to get all of your entry fee money back in BONUS CASH on top of any prize money you may win at each event! In other news, the FairWay Tour is expanding this year into West Texas and Arkansas. On May 7th, we will be having our first West Texas event at Diamondback GC near Abilene, TX. Cody Cox, a college golf coach from Snyder, TX and obviously well connected in the area, will be helping secure players for the West Texas region. We are very pleased to announce that Jerad Harklau, a Tight Lies Tour player and golf instructor as well as a native of Arkansas, has joined the FairWay Tour staff and will be available for private instruction. Jerad will also be working the Arkansas Region and will have an event in Hot Springs Village at Ponce DeLeon GC on May 15th. This exclusive club is a must play! These young men are of high character and integrity. The opportunity presented by these guys is the main reason we chose to expand the tour. And finally, don't forget about our special events coming up later in the year. We will be playing TPC @ Las Colinas in early August and traveling to Las Vegas later in the season...stay tuned for all the details of this event! We hope to see you at the course very soon, because if you don't tee it up, you can't win! |

Benson's Net Score Of +2 Wins More Than $1600 @ Windy Coyote Ridge |
Congratulations to 24 year old Bryce Benson of Ft. Worth, TX, now the second straight player under 25 to win on the FairWay Tour. Two straight senior winners have been followed by two straight up and comers in the winners circle over the last month. Bryce fired a gross score of 76 with a 2 handicap to collect the first place check of $1300 with 29 players entered in the Net Division. Bryce also fired net scores of even par 36 on the front nine nassau and 2 over 38 on the back to collect an additional $270. Throw in a $49 skin and Bryce collected a total check of more than $1600. Coyote Ridge could be considered a winner too as it is the first golf course of the year to prevent the field from breaking their handcap. The course was in great shape but conditions were extreme with wind gusts close to 40mph at times. A net score of 79.1 finished in the money...we hope to see you at our next event because if you don't tee it up you can't win! |

Threet Breaks Senior Win Streak On 23rd Birthday |
Congratulations to Kacey Threet of Grove, OK who received quite a birthday present in the form of a victory over the field of 35 competitors Saturday at Kickingbird GC in Edmond, OK. The talented young player has only been golfing three years and recorded a gross score of 71. Threet edged out Michael Gatz by one stroke with a net score of -2.2 on his 23rd birthday. The two young longballers were the only players to break their handicap on the short, hilly course with bent greens easily running 11 on the stimp and swirling, gusty winds blowing in excess of 25 mph at times. For the fourth consecutive week a net score of +2.8 or higher was good enough to cash a check as 3 players finished tied for 9th, a rarity on the FairWay Tour since we do not round numbers in order to prevent ties...the +3 score of 73 was also good enough to win the Sr. Net Division. The Red River Cup Points Race is still projecting a $10,000 purse for the top 10 points winners at the end of the year. As of April 3rd, $2130 is in the pool with only 1 of 8 majors played (money into pool and points are double for majors). It is way too early to count ANYONE out of this race as the season is just getting started. We have completed only one of eight scheduled majors and 10 of a minimum 36 scheduled 1-day events. With the Masters being played this week the golf courses are full, which makes it a challenge reserving tee times to accommodate everyone...especially the last minute entries. Therefore, starting this week, if your entry is submitted and your deposit is paid online by Monday 5 pm prior to the event, you will receive an additional 5 points for EARLY REGISTRATION. Players will now receive 15 points for signing up early, paying deposit and participating in the event. You will receive 10 points if you pay your deposit and sign up after 9pm Monday but before 5pm Thursday. If you sign up after 5 pm Thursday it will be on space available basis only and you will receive 5 points for participating. Points are also given to the top five finishers in this order: 1st 50 2nd 40 3rd 30 4th 20 5th 10...This week's event has been moved from Tierra Verde GC to Coyote Ridge GC in our effort to provide you with the best conditions possible due to the aerification process. Coyote Ridge is located in Carrollton, TX. This golf course has a beautiful new clubhouse and is very challenging with some difficult par 3's. The tour tries its best to give you quality golf courses to play each week and this one certainly fits the bill. Sign up by Monday, April 4th at 9pm and get your automatic 15 Red River Cup Points...if you leave them sitting around it could make a big difference when the bonus checks are written! Tee Times start at noon. |

57-Year Old Akins 2nd Straight Senior Winner, Fires 73 From Back Tee @ Waterchase; Policy Update |
For the second consecutive week on the FairWay Tour, a senior player turns back the clock and fires a great round of golf to win the overall Net Division winner's check. Jack Akins, pro at Northern Challenge Golf Club between Gainesville and Sherman, fired his best round in 6 years of playing the tour with a gross score of 73 from the back tee that totaled nearly 7300 yds. He was aptly rewarded with a check for $2550! Jack, like Eddie McGoveran the week before, is struggling with serious health issues. He was diagnosed with Leukemia several years ago. We are overjoyed to give them the opportunity to compete and WIN!! Once again, the scoring for the field of 47 went according to script with 5 players (10.6%) beating their handicap and 3 over your handicap cashing a check. Due to the decimal point sytem (your index multiplied by slope rating to give you an exact course hcp), there were no ties among the first 11 spots paid. Policy Update - New Code of Conduct Policy: A player will receive one warning if it is determined he has blatantly shown conduct unbecoming of a professional. If Tour Director receives a complaint of any kind after the warning, that player will be suspended for 60 days. If same player receives another complaint of any kind after 60 day suspension, their membership will be terminated and that player will no longer be allowed to participate in FairWay Tour Events. The FairWay Tour's Mission Statement: The focus of the FairWay Tour is to promote the game of golf with passion, integrity and honor...we want to provide a positive atmosphere for competition. If you do not meet this criteria, action will be taken to conform with these policies. The tour does not believe a player should be allowed to ruin the day of others by exhibiting unprofessional conduct during competition. Since its inception in the year 2000, we have worked diligently to establish a reputation we are very proud of. The tour will not let the actions of a few undermine our efforts. We are grateful the vast majority of players over the last 11 years could be a poster child for excellent conduct! We hope to see you at our next event! |

62 Year Old McGoveran Proves He Can Still Play Despite Health Issues; Red River Cup Cash Starting to Pile Up |
Eddie McGoveran, a veteran of 10 years and over 200 events on the FairWay Tour, has struggled recently with COPD and other health issues. Despite his struggle to simply breathe on the back nine at Emerald Falls Saturday, Eddie fired a gross score of 76 on the difficult track to edge out Paul Aycock and take home the first place check of $1100. Eddie thought his days of winning golf tournaments were behind him but nothing can keep this man back as he has a burning desire to compete AND win! Incredible playing. In other news, Chris Brown, who has been playing the FairWay Tour took a week off (lol) to play the Adams Tight Lies Tour and tied for 7th in his debut with a 72-hole total of -11. He earned just over $2900 for his four day total which included 4 rounds no higher than 70. Hmmm, 2 rounds on the FairWay Tour (with 41 players) at a cost of $450 made him well over $5000 and 4 similar rounds on the Tight Lies Tour (with well over 100 players and a CUT) at a cost of $950 plus travel earned him $2900. I'll let you guys figure his odds and do the math on that, but the 7th place tie was his best finish I could find by far in the three yrs he has played that tour... Winning over $5000 in one event on any tour will do wonders for a man's confidence because last I checked that money spends the same! The Red River Cup Cash Fund is starting to add up. $540 went into the pool from Major #1. That's well over $4000 in the pool for the 8 majors alone if the field remains the same. The opportunity to win the Red River Cup is there for anyone who wants it as we have played only 9 of the 44 sheduled events for the region and already paid $58,322 to our members this year. Come join the competition this Saturday at Waterchase....once a gain an old qoute I stole from Eddie McGoveran's answering machine. "We'll See You At The Course...and remember, IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN!!!" |

Brown Flawless, Collects Over $5000; Kuzu Performs Take Down on Leaders Sunday |
Major #1 at Tangle Ridge Golf Club once again broke a FairWay Tour record for attendance as this was the largest turnout for a 2-Day Major Event with 41 players. We appreciate the support the players have given the Tour this year and look forward to providing bigger and better events in the future. Chris Brown has been between a 0.4 and +1 hcp since he began playing the tour last summer. He played his first 9 events without winning in the Net Division before pulling off back to back victories over the last 2 weeks, including this weekend's Major, where he collected well over $5,000 for his performance. Chris was easily the best player in the field this week with his 68-69 being the lowest gross scores each day. He also had the lowest hcp in the field with a zero on day 1 and a +1 as it turns out on day 2. There was an interesting twist to this event as the second place finisher, Abdurrahim Kuzu, a silver medalist in the 1984 Olympics as a wrestler, showed he has the mentality to compete on a golf course as well when the chips are down. Kuzu began the day as a 10.3 hcp w/16 rds in the system. He fired a 76 on Sunday that seemed to come from nowhere as it was his best gross score of those rounds in his history...by 7 shots. His previous low was our last event at Bridlewood with an 83. The USGA calls a net score lower than 5 under for 1 round or consecutive rounds of 3 under or better an Exceptional Tournament Score. Since Kuzu (16 rds) and Brown (19 rds) did not have the 20 rounds needed to have a mature hcp, the ETS was entered into the system at the conclusion of play and re-adjusted Kuzu's handicap to 8.5 from 10.5 and Brown's to +1 from +.5 per the guidelines of tour policy and in line with Table 10-3 in the USGA Handbook. The adjustment gave Kuzu a net score on Sunday of 67.5, still good enough to jump from 15th place all the way to 2nd place to collect a total of $2950. My guess is it probably took that type of performance to get him that silver medal! Brown's net score went from 69.5 to 70 with his adjustment, which did not effect the outcome as he could have been a +2 both days and still won by less than a stroke. Going into this event, everyone in the field thought they could beat their hcp by 4 to 6 shots or more for 36 holes if they had a weekend of great golf (would a player enter the event otherwise?)... So let's give credit where credit is due and that would be to Chris Brown, who executed his game flawlessly for 2 rounds with GROSS scores of 68-69 and Abdurrahim Kuzu, who Sunday fired 7 shots lower than his previous best on the tour! The FairWay Tour strongly believes the system is running as it should when the lowest hcp finishes first and one of the highest handicappers finishes second...12 % of the field broke their hcp with 3 of those 5 players beating it by less than a stroke. Everyone in between had their chance too, as there was a conglomerate of golfers shooting virtually the same 2-day total. The golf course provided excellent service to our players and was there for the taking as it is one of the easiest tracks in our rotation despite the windy conditions and less than stellar greens due to the seasonal changes. My message to anyone who may have been upset that a low handicapper won 1st place (high handicappers?) or that a high handicapper took 2nd place (low handicappers?) is this...JUST PLAY A LITTLE BIT BETTER! The same message I gave Chris Brown a few weeks ago at Frisco Lakes when he was frustrated. All the scores are entered into the FairWay System's USGA licensed software the same way and uses one formula to calculate the numbers automatically and does not discriminate between a number of +2.4 or 11.9! We look forward to seeing you at our next event. |

Brown Fires 68 on Cold, Windy Day @ Lincoln West; Points Double for Major #1 Next Weekend |
Chris Brown, a scratch player from N. Texas, would have made Old Tom Morris proud with his 3 under par 68. The great game of golf was created in Scotland, where 45 degree temperatures and windy conditions are part of the game. Amazingly, all 28 players showed up for the 10am start where the temperature was 38 degrees and a biting 25mph north wind had players scrambling for cart covers and heaters...something Old Tom Morris did without. Our policy will always be if the course is open, we play. After all, this is a serious professional golf tour...what about the bad weather players? Yesterday was their big chance and Chris Brown, the lowest handicapper in the field (0.4), was that guy as he took ADVANTAGE of the conditions to score his first victory in 9 tries on the tour and shoot his lowest score! Great job, Chris. Next weekend will be our first 2-Day Event of the year with Major #1 scheduled for Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie, TX. Points will be worth double for this event as players will receive 10 points for paying deposit or full entry fee online and 10 points for participating. The top 5 finishers will receive double points for performance...1st 100 2nd 80 3rd 60 4th 40 5th 20. If Major #1 winner had 0 points he could earn enough to jump all the way to 5th place in the race to the Red River Cup, currently projected to pay close to $10,000 in BONUS CASH to top 10 points winners!...Register now to secure your spot, which pays minimum $5,000 to the winner with 36 or more players. Play the FairWay Tour, where fair weather for somebody is always at our next event. For Chris Brown, the conditions were perfect! |

Grossart Cashes in With $2030 Check as Field of 51 Players Create 1-Day Purse of $8680 |
Donald Grossart turned in some fine art on Saturday afternoon at Bridlewood GC. The 2.6 handicap fired a gross score of 70 to race past the field with a 2.7 stroke victory. To put that in perspective, it was the largest margin between places as less than a stroke separated each posititon from 2nd thru 43rd place. His handicap could have been 0 and he still would have won the event. Donald finally broke free from his slump as his lowest score of his previous 7 rounds on the tour was a 77. The FairWay Tour had record attendance for the month of February with 126 rounds recorded in three events. The two events in Texas were the largest back to back events in one region since the tour began in late 2000. We would like to thank all participants for their support...please continue to spread the good word to all of your golfing buddies (don't forget to collect your $50 credit when you sign up a new member) as we continue to grow and provide QUALITY events every weekend! The top 5 finishers received points for performance as will be the case with every event regardless of field size and, ironically, were the only players in the field of 51 players to break net par. The USGA says a player should be able to break his hcp 20% of the time, or once every 5 rounds and better his hcp by 3 strokes 5% of the time or once every 20 rds. With 9% of the field able to shoot lower than their handicap and 1% of the field beating it by more than 3 shots, this event fell well above the standard set by the USGA. The cash is starting to add up quickly in the points race, which will pay cash bonuses to top 10 at the end of the season. Points will double for the 2-Day Major at Tangle Ridge March 12-13. We hope to see you there because one thing is certain...IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN! Ask Donald Grossart. |

FairWay Tour Providing Intense Competition With Tight Scoring At Each Event; 3-Way Tie At Top In Points Race |
The FairWay Tour is providing intense competition as the last 2 events have been decided by less than a stroke and there is currently a 3-way tie for the lead in the Red River Cup Points Race. Jeremy Copeland edged out Michael Gatz at Tour 18-Rose Creek in Edmond OK with a net score of 67.9 and took home a total of $1350 with a gross score of 72. The 4.1 handicap recorded his lowest gross score in his last 22 events on the FairWay Tour dating back to July 11, 2009. Jeremy joined the tour as a 1 handicap in August 2003 and has recorded over 190 rounds, but only a handful were as good as this one. Nice job Jeremy. So far we have seen very tight scoring in each of our events. The scoring system used by the FairWay Tour calculates a player's index with the slope rating of the golf course to give a handicap to the nearest tenth. This method all but eliminates ties and with the field evened out by handicaps, a winner is identified as often as possible. Our next event will be Feb. 26th at Bridlewood GC in Flower Mound, TX with Major #1 just around the corner at Tangle Ridge GC in Grand Prairie, TX on March 12-13. We hope you can come out soon and enjoy weekend golf competition at its finest! |

Aycock Takes Advantage of Conditions at Frisco Lakes; 50% Discount on Memberships Ends Feb 15th |
Paul Aycock, golf pro at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club on Lake Texoma, took advantage of winter rules and perfect weather conditions at Frisco Lakes Golf Club on Saturday. More than a dozen players were within 4 strokes of the winner due to the perfect conditions and with ball in hand thru the green due to the soggy course. The 3.3 handicap fired an even par 72 to give him a net score of 68.7, good enough to edge out Mike Reinhardt and Taylor Quillicy by less than a stroke and take home a total of $2060...over 10X his entry fee! Aycock also took the lead in the Red River Cup Points Race and is the new money leader. Check out the new look website and money list. Notice the more divisions you play, the more you win!! 40 Players @ Tangle Ridge as Rogers Wins $2250 ; OKC Under Winter Storm Warning |
Where can a 52-year old 3.8 handicapper make thousands in a pro golf tournament? That would be on the FairWay Golf Tour, where Mark Rogers fired an even par 72 at Tangle Ridge GC in Grand Prairie, TX to win money in every division he entered and earn almost 10 times his entry fee as he paid a total of $275 (1-Day Net, 1-Day Sr. Net, Nassau and course fees) and took home $2250...not a bad day's work! Mark also took the lead in the Red River Cup Points Race, which pays cash bonuses to the top ten points winners at the end of the year. $5 of every entry fee for 1-day events and $10 of every entry fee for 2-day events goes into this pool. The tour is off to a successful start in 2011 as the field of 40 players exceeded expectations for an event in the middle of January. Come join us in the next 2 weeks or go online and take advantage of the $50 membership special, which goes to $100 February 15th. Players may pay the fee on the website at any time. If there are five players in the field, those five players will receive points valued the same as the top 5 finishers in the 40 player event at Tangle Ridge! 1st 50 2nd 40 3rd 30 4th 20 5th 10...players also receive 5 points for participating and 5 points if they register and pay the deposit or full entry fee online by Thursday at 5pm. |

Singley Laps Field @ Winter Creek; Tour Members Now Get Latest Equipment Below Retail |
Jay Singley, a fellow member at Tour 18 - Rose Creek CC in Edmond, OK is a true bad weather player. The reason I know this is because he shows up at Rose Creek when it is 33 degrees to play golf and often has to wait until the course will let him on because the greens are frozen...he has a cart cover and heater...he is that guy who has never heard of bad weather. I guess he felt right at home on the blustery, windy 47 degree day at Winter Creek CC. Jay fired a gross score of -1 and net score of -4 to win the event by 4 strokes and was the only player in the field to beat his handicap ...Nice playing Jay! Our next event will be at Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie, TX on Saturday, January 29th. Active players from 2010 will have their lowest score removed from their history once their membership is renewed and will also be eligible to receive ONE FREE LESSON FROM TOUR DIRECTOR. Also receive the latest merchandise from Derek Watson's Pro Shop at steep discounts not found in retail stores. Reinhardt Fires Net Score of -1.2 to Win First Event of 2011 and Take Early Lead in Red River Cup Points Race |
Congrats to Michael Reinhardt of Fort Worth, who was the only player to beat his handicap under chilly, but benign conditions Saturday @ Texas Star Golf Club in Euless, TX. Reinhardt received a total of $950 and 55 points for the win as he beat the field of 13 players on the drizzly 48 degree day. The points system will reward the top 10 points finishers with cash bonuses at the end of the season projected to be in the thousands of dollars as $5 of every 1-Day Net and $10 of every 2-Day Net (major) entry goes into the points pool. Reinhardt received 50 points for the win and 5 points for participating. Points breakdown as follows: 1st 50 2nd 40 3rd 30 4th 20 5th 10 (regardless if there are 10 or 50 players points will be given only to top 5 finishers)...all players receive an automatic 5 points for participation and 5 points if they pay their $25 deposit prior to the 5pm Thursday deadline for the week's event. This means if you pay your deposit and show up you will automatically receive 10 points, which is the same as the 5th place finisher. Based on last year's numbers, the top 10 points winners would receive a total of over $5000 in BONUS CASH with the Red River Cup Points Winner receiving a check for over $2000. In 2011 it pays if you participate on the FairWay Tour! |

FairWay Tour Will Host 40+ Events in Texas and Oklahoma in 2011 |
Please watch calendar as the FairWay Tour will be making regular updates until it is full with 40+ events in Texas and Oklahoma for our 10th season in 2011. The Tour will continue to serve the Oklahoma and North Texas Region as well as a minimum of 4 events to be held in West Texas. Our goal is the same as it was in 2001 when we started the Tour...Provide quality competition to serious golfers with a handicap index of 12.0 or less. We take pride in making sure the courses we play are in the best condition possible when we play them, which is why it is impossible to release a true calendar a year in advance. We also have more events at better courses and the best PAY MATRIX in the business. When filling out your tour calendar in 2011, be sure to remember our Tour Director is a lifetime golf professional who has experience running over 350 of these events...this experience is critical to the proper administration of the USGA Handicap Formula. Let the stats speak for themselves as -2.1 was the average WINNING 36-Hole score in Majors for 2010 and the average 1-Day Net score was 77.64 with 658 rounds. We hope to see you at the course, where we have paid close to $2 million to our players since 2001! |

SUPER CLOSE; Copeland Edges Aycock to Win Super Major 2 |
Jeremy Copeland, longtime player from Edmond, OK who has logged over 200 rounds since August 2003 on the FairWay Tour, ended his frustrating 2010 season with a bang by capturing a first place check of $5125 Sunday afternoon at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club. Persistence paid off as he had participated in three previous majors and nine one day events in 2010 and cashed a total of $735 prior to this event. Copeland posted his score of 143.2 on the par 144 layout and waited anxiously in the clubhouse for the lead group to arrive on the 18th green at the picturesque venue. Paul Aycock was in command most of the day after overnight leaders Michael Reinhardt (68.7) and Wes Neesham (69.7) faltered on the front nine. Aycock, however, could not close the deal as he missed an 8 ft. par putt on the 17th and failed to birdie the 18th to finish 2nd by one tenth of a stroke at 143.3. His consolation prize totaled $3550, which included first place in the 2-Day Sr. Net. This event went true to form as the winning score of -0.8 was higher than the avg. winning score of -2.4 and Reinhardt's 5th place finish of +5.3 was higher than the avg. last place money winner of +4.8. |

Glasson Fires Net Score of 66.8 at Kickingbird to Edge Wigington |
Max Glasson of Stillwater, OK fired a gross score of 71 at Kickingbird GC on Saturday to win first place by less than a stroke over Dustin Wigington of OKC, who fired a gross score of 67 on the par 70 layout. Kickingbird is traditionally one of the easiest courses on the FairWay Tour rotation at 6722 yds from the tips. Glasson, a 4.2 handicap, birdied the 466 yd 18th, easily the most difficult hole on the course, to get the win over Wigington, a +0.3 hcp. Be sure to join us at Waterchase Sunday, Novenber 28 as the forecast is currently saying a hi of 72! Our final event of the 2010 season will be Super Major 2 December 4-5 at Chickasaw Pointe GC on Lake Texoma...sign up today as the 1st place finisher will receive $5K with 20 players and up to $10K with 40 players...see you at the course! |

Cox Cashes In @ Bridlewood |
Cody Cox of West Texas showed the field how to maximize their earnings on Saturday afternoon at Bridlewood GC in Flower Mound, TX. The 7 handicapper fired a front nine 40 and a back nine 37 to win both sides of the nassau by less than a stroke and take the tourney by almost 2 strokes over 2nd place finisher Charles Bradley. During winter months, the field at our events will be smaller than in-season, but that does not mean you can't win large cash! Cody took home $1210, over 10 times his entry fee for this event by simply shooting a net score of 70...great job Cody. By the way, a net score of +5 was good enough to finish in the money for this event under near perfect conditions....less players, better odds, ask Cody how that worked out! We look forward to seeing you at any of our last 3 events of the season...this weekend at Kickinbird GC in Edmond, OK...the following Sunday after Thanksgiving at Waterchase GC in Arlington, or at Chickasaw Pointe GC on Lake Texoma Dec. 4th and 5th, site of Super Major 2 and our last event of 2010. The tour will resume play on a weekly basis weather permitting on Saturday, Jan. 15th. See you at the course! |

Singley Edges Van Horn With Net Score of 72 @ Rose Creek GC |
Congratulations to Jay Singley of OKC, who fired a net score of even par 72 under windy conditions at Tour 18-Rose Creek GC in Edmond, OK Saturday. The 2 handicapper won a total of $735 from the field of 11 players in large part due to a front nine 36...good enough to win the front nine nassau. His back nine 38 included a 10 footer for birdie on the last hole, which proved to be the difference maker over Van Horn, a +2.1 handicapper who played a beautiful round with a gross score of 70 under difficult conditions. This event turned out in favor of the low handicappers mainly because of the windswept links style course as Rieck, a 0.9 handicap finished third with a net score of 75.1. The Tour will take a month off after Super Major 2 at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club on Lake Texoma Dec. 4th and 5th and resume play Saturday, January 15th, 2011... 2010 was a successful season with over 40 events and more than $200,000.00 paid to its members. Since this money is paid in one flight and the Tour's 1-Day Net Scoring Average in 2010 with 594 rounds is currently 77.56, your earning potential is greater than ever on our tour. More events, better payouts and proper administration of the USGA Handicap System will continue to make the FairWay Tour the choice of serious golfers in the region. We appreciate your support and look forward to providing quality competition, and lots of it, in 2011! |

Walker Wins Super Major at -1.6; Only Player to Shoot Below Handicap |
Congratulations to Mark Walker of Hurst, TX, winner of Super Major 1 held at Tierra Verde GC in Arlington, TX. The +2 handicap and former Texas State Open champion pocketed $8250 for shooting gross scores of 71-69 in the 36-hole event. His net score of 142.4 on the par 144 layout was 3.6 strokes better than 2nd place finisher Bobby Stark at +2 (146). Stark, a 6 handicap and the hottest player on our tour over the last few months, pocketed well over $6000 for his 2nd place finish in the main event and 1st place finish in the 2-Day Sr. Net Division. Be sure to join us for our next Super Major to be held at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club on Lake Texoma December 4-5. The winner will receive $10,000 with a full field of 40 players. |

Perfect Conditions @ The Old American as Par Wins |
The Old American Golf Club lived up to its billing as a challenging and unique golf course. From the wooden flagsticks to the thousands of bunkers (remember the US Open) and new strain bermuda greens that rolled as true as the bent greens at Oak Tree, the course is definitely on the Tour's radar for a Major. Bobby Stark, an 8 handicapper, managed his way around the course in 8 over par to win well over a thousand dollars for his performance. A net score of +4.5 on the par 71 layout was good enugh to cash a check. The Tour is excited to present Super Major #1 - The 2010 Tour Championship @ Tierra Verde Golf Club in Arlington, TX October 30-31. As of Monday, October 18th, 26 players were registered, with first place currently sitting at $6500, more than 10 times your entry fee for first place already! This event will pay $10,000 to the winner with 40 players. Comparitively speaking, I played the Oklahoma Open in September and for virtually the same entry fee first place was $10,000...the only difference was there were 156 golfers and it took -11 SCRATCH to get that check! Don't miss this opportunity to play for the BIG BUCKS....REGISTER TODAY TO SECURE YOUR SPOT! |

Higgins, Ledbetter Tie @ Winter Creek; Don't Miss The Old American GC This Weekend |
Home course boys Jeff Higgins and Lance Ledbetter fired matching net scores of -4 at Winter Creek CC on Sat urday to split first prize and also split the nassau payouts. The harsh winter of last year left many of the Oklahoma courses in our rotation in very poor condition. Two of our favorites, Rose Creek and Winter Creek, suffered thru the season and are just now starting to take on their old form, which is good news for all of us. We can only hope this year's winter is back to normal. One course where you don't need to worry about conditions is this week's stop at The Old American Golf Club next to The Tribute in The Colony, TX. This course is brand new and in immaculate condition. The $90 green fee is a bargain considering the rack rate is $175. Our friends at the course have offered to include lunch at the turn as well for that rate. Don't miss this opportunity to play the finest new course in the metroplex and MAKE A POCKETFUL OF MONEY WHILE DOING SO. Se you at the course! |

Tour Will Play Winter Creek Oct 9th and the New Old American Golf Club Designed by Tripp Davis and Justin Leonard Oct 16th |
The FairWay Tour is excited about the opportunity to play the brand new Old American Golf Club in The Colony, TX. The course is in incredible condition as the greens are brand new. This course has had media coverage by WFAA-ABC TV, Avid Golfer Magazine, Golfweek Magazine, XM Radio's PGA Tour Network, Links Magazine, The Dallas Morning News and more. The rack rate of $175 has been lowered to $90, which includes a snack at the turn. Check it out at theoldamericangolfclub.com. We hope you can join us at this great new track. The tour will also be playing Winter Creek CC this weekend and our Super Major to be held Oct 30-31 at Tierra Verde Golf Club in Arlington TX...First prize will be $10K with a full field of 40 players! |

Dornick Hills Provides Stiff Challenge as -1.4 Takes $5000 Prize |
The 7th Annual FairWay Fall Classic at Dornick Hills CC was a success as a total of 41 players teed off on the traditional Perry Maxwell design. Congratulations to Chris Parnell of Arlington, TX, whose consistent play earned him the winner's check. The 2 handicap was the only player in the field to shoot below net par. Weather once again played a factor in the outcome of this event...Saturday was a gorgeous day for golf as temperatures reached 86 degrees without a breath of wind. 10 players were at net par or better with young pro Cade Mccracken, playing in his second professional event, firing a gross score of 65 on the par 70 layout to finish with a net score of 68 along with four other players who were at -2 or better. But true to form, the "Fall" in Fall Classic arrived Sunday morning as temperatures were in the mid 60s with a north wind at 15-25 mph. On this day, "Fall" took on another meaning as our leaders began to fall off the leaderboard. Mike Reinhardt, the leader after Day 1 at -4.7 with a gross score of 70, fired an 83 on Day 2 and fell completely off the list of money winners along with McCracken, who could only manage a gross score of 79 on Sunday. Let's give credit to Mr. Maxwell, whose design has withstood the test of time and at 6600 yds is all you need to use every shot in the bag! |

Goodson Wins Waterchase at -3: Major 6 @ Dornick Hills CC Coming Up September 25-26 |
Congrats to Larry Goodson of Ft. Worth, TX, who fired a gross score of 72 with a course handicap of 3.0 to take a total of $1440 from a field of 31 players on Saturday afternoon at Waterchase GC. Once again, the competition was fierce on a perfect day for golf as many players had a chance to win this event. One of those players was Donald Grossart, who used home course knowledge to his advantage on the front nine to fire a gross score of 32 and open a huge lead. But the back nine wasn't as nice to Donald, who eagled the 18th for a back nine 41. Talk about an up and down round! I am quite sure there were many others who had their chances on this day... Check out the statistics page on the website as there are alot of cool stats. For instance, the 1-day net scoring average on tour this year is 77.59 with 550 rounds played. Also, if players haven't noticed, you may click your name on the website to get all your info, including graph of scoring, tour stats, events entered, winnings and more. Players can click on the name of others to see their info and find out what type of player they may be paired with in a given event... Major 6 at Dornick Hills CC, a favorite of tour players, will be held Sept 25-26 in Ardmore, OK, 30 miles north of the Red River. Dornick Hills was designed by the late great Perry Maxwell, who also designed Southern Hills CC in Tulsa and many other fantastic old scool courses. The course fees will be $65/day which includes tax and their famous mouth watering Sunday Brunch Buffet (talk about down home cookin!)at the conclusion of play on Sunday! We hope to see you there...If you would like to get a copy of your entry forms to use as receipts, please notify Tour Diector and we will get those to you. Also, if there are updates to personal info, please go online and edit your profile so we can send 1099's to the correct address. Hope to see you at the course very soon! TD |

St. John Wins Lincoln West @ -2.5; Tangle Ridge Sep. 4th Moved To Waterchase Due to Course Conditions |
Blake St. John, from somewhere in Scotland, fired a gross score of -1 and a net score of -2.5 to win both divisions on Saturday @ Lincoln West Golf Club in OKC. This event went true to form as the top three finishers also had the lowest handicaps. Nice job Blake! SCHEDULE CHANGE ALERT: The FairWay Tour is committed to scheduling the highest quality golf courses at the best rate possible for our players. We are also committed to making sure the courses we play are in good shape when we play them. For this reason, we have changed our next event in the D/FW Metro on September 4th from Tangle Ridge to Waterchase. The greens were punched at Tangle Ridge on Aug. 9th and are still not close to recovery while Waterchase is currently in FANTASTIC condition. Come join us! |

These events will be 36 holes and will pay $10,000 to the winner with 40 or more players ($565 entry fee + course costs). Rushing Wins TPC with Net Score of -2.1; Tour Director Has 9.5 lb Baby Boy! |
Congrats to Jeff Rushing of Ft. Worth, TX, winner of FGT's event at TPC Las Colinas on 8/8/10. Jeff fired a gross score of 1 over par 71 as the 3.1 handicapper edged out Bobby Stark to win the 1st place prize of $1500. The FairWay Tour event was the largest 1-Day Net field in its 10 year existence, which is a sure sign of bigger and better things to come. We apologize for the delay in getting results and newsletter posted this past week as we have been busy introducing our new son to the world...a 9lb 5oz healthy baby boy! Trey Coursey fired a 72 at the impossible Cherokee Hills GC on 8/14 for a net score of -0.5 and first place money totaling $720 with only 10 players in the field! Great odds and great payouts are what this tour is all about as a net score of +7 still cashed a check!...Come join us Saturday, August 21st at Champion Circle GC, formerly known as Doral-Tesoro located right next to Texas Motor Speedway on I35W. Green fee rate is only $35 so for a total cost of $160 you can win a fitrst place prize of minimum $1000 with 20 or more players! |

Cagigal Fires Brilliant 67 on Sunday to take Major #5 at Stonebridge CC |
Congratulations to Henry Cagigal of Ft. Worth, TX, this year's Major #5 winner at Stonebridge CC with a net score of -4.2. The 48 yr. old improved by 10 shots from Saturday with a 5 under par 67 as he ran away and hid from the field with a whopping 6.1 stroke victory, the largest margin of victory ever in a FairWay Tour Major. Bryan Berger and Michael Juneau, paired together in the final group, thought they were battling for first place on the 18th green when Mr. Juneau missed a 4 ft. putt to give Berger 2nd place and $2000 with a net score of +1.9. But the stellar round from Cagigal, who had been away from golf after suffering severe burns in an accident with hot glue, appeared to regain his old form as his score was easily enough to win this event at the very difficult Pete Dye designed course at Stonebridge Ranch. |

Thorntree CC Proves Difficult as Field of 29 Players Fail to Break Par |
As a player and Tour Director I heard varying opinions of Thorntree CC on Saturday afternoon. Aside from being in great condition one thing was certain...the course played every bit as difficult as its 75.2/144 rating. Thick rough, undulating and grainy bermuda greens along with the rolling terrain and tree-lined fairways were only the beginning. Throw in the nearly impossible pin positions along with the numerous out of bounds and water hazards on this course and you have a monster. Congratulations to Larry Goodson of Bedford, TX, who cashed an $1150 check with a net score of 73. If players enjoy a challenge, come join us next weekend for Major #5 at Stonebridge CC (Dye Course). This beautiful course, former host of the NCAA Championship and Tour Qualifying school, boasts generous fairways and bent greens. But it will also provide an entirely different challenge to our players with the Pete Dye design. Hope to see you at the course for this event with a green fee rate of $75/day, nearly half the normal guest rate to play this exclusive private club. |

Dye Course at Stonebridge, TPC at Las Colinas Await Tour Players in Coming Weeks |
The FairWay Tour will be providing an opportunity for its members to play some of the finest courses in Texas, none of which are public access, the next few weeks. We will tee it up at Thorntree CC July 17th, Stonebridge CC (Dye Course) for Major #5 July 24-25 and TPC at Las Colinas, site of PGA Tour's Byron Nelson, August 8th...Space will be extremely limited due to the private nature of these venues so sign up today. Green fee rates will be less than playing these courses with a member...plus, there is always the possibly of walking away with a pocketful of money! Please check out your player profile, tour statistics and stats competition pages on the website. These updates are part of a continued effort to bring you the most genuine tour possible. Along with being the longest active net tour, since 2001, with the best pay matrix (almost $2 million paid to our players) and now the most comprehensive website, we offer the highest quality courses for competition. The tour would like to thank Trey Coursey, one of our very own members, for the fantastic job he has done creating a website that all of us can enjoy...We hope to see you at the course in the coming weeks! |

Schwartz (0.8 hcp) Fires Gross score of 68 to Win Net and Sr. Net at Tierra Verde |
Phil Schwartz is the latest hot golfer on the FairWay Tour as he fires a gross score of 68 to win both the Net and Sr. Net divisions at Tierra Verde Golf Club in Arlington, TX. The 0.8 handicapper, who is pushing 50, played the tips and easily recorded the most impressive round of the day on the wet track that played long as balls were getting no roll on the soggy fairways. The tour appreciates a great round of golf...this is why we all tee it up...it does not matter if it comes from an 8 or .8 handicapper. Congratulations, Phil, on a great round of golf and a nice paycheck of $1350 from a field of 29 players. |

Davis Cools Off (by 22 shots) as Roberts Takes Winter Creek |
Congratulations to home town boy Wayne Roberts of Blanchard, OK, who won the event at Winter Creek CC June 26th with a net score of -3.3, just good enough to beat Michael Gatz and his net score of -2.9. As is nearly always the case on our tour, if you beat your handicap you cashed a check. The FairWay Tour is a pro golf tour for handicapped golfers. Donny Davis is a classic example of a handicapped golfer. After firing a career low 77 last week at Tangle Ridge for a net score of 65 (the lowest on tour in over 2 yrs), the 9.9 handicapper (after being a 12 last week) fired a gross score of 99 at Winter Creek to finish last place by nearly 5 strokes...This is why we tee it up fellas! Golf is a very fickle game that can come one round and go the next. It is almost amusing for me as Tour Director to hear questions about the 'system' when a player goes low. Truth is, the system ain't broke and you need to play better! Another tour in Texas played last weekend and the winning score for four rounds was 21 under...those four rds were 63 65 67 68. By the way, those are GROSS scores. So if you think the grass may be greener on the other side, give that tour a try...70 68 71 71 loses money! The FairWay Tour blows away the competition as $109,834 has been paid to 84 players this year with the current leading money winner earning $7745. A similar local tour in Dallas has paid $79,070 to 149 players with their leading money winner earning $3900 with virtually the same entry fees. Come join us Saturday, July 3rd at Tierra Verde GC in Arlington, TX. Tee Times begin at 11am. Please sign up by Thursday at 5pm as any extra tee times will be released then and you run the chance of not getting a spot. Any player at this event who breaks their handicap and does not cash a check will receive a $25 credit from the Tour Director! |

Tour Vets Davis, Stark Have Their Day At Tangle Ridge |
There were low scores early and late Sunday as long-time tour veterans Donny Davis and Bobby Stark fired net scores of 65 and 65.1 respectively to take 1st and 2nd place at Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie, TX. Donny Davis has recorded 186 rounds since June 2003 and Bobby Stark 149 since December 2003. That is why it was remarkable they would shoot their lowest scores ever on the FairWay Tour the same day(also the first time 2 players have shot more than 5 under their handicap on the same day since the tour began in 2001). A quick look at the money list for this year and last will show that success for them has been limited...so even though their handicaps were among the highest at this event, they were very deserving winners nonetheless! Congratulations to both of these players, who I know were more excited about finally shooting a great score than actually cashing their checks! Under tour policy (rule IIIc), a veteran player (defined as a player with more than 20 scores) who records an exceptional tournament score as defined by the USGA (greater than 5 below net par)will have that score entered into the system twice for a period of three rounds to insure integrity. If that player shoots a net score greater than 3 below net par during that period, the exceptional tournament score will remain for another three rounds. |

DonCarlos, Harbison Win at Kickingbird and Sky Creek |
Congratulations to Bryan DonCarlos and John Harbison, winners of FairWay Tour events at Kickingbird GC in Edmond, OK Saturday, June, 12th and Sky Creek Ranch GC in Keller, TX on Sunday, June 13th. The tour would like to ask everyone to check out their profile page on the website. Just click PLAYERS at top of home page, then find the player (yourself or another player)whose profile you wish to view and click their name...On the profile page you will find the player's stats, 1-day net scoring average, yearly earnings, career earnings (since 2007), career top 3 finishes, low net score, high net score and last event's handicap. Since sandbagging is impossible on our tour, this will give you all the info you need on a particular player...if you have doubts about a player's handicap, just check their profile to see their performance history. For example, John Harbison has a 1-day net scoring average of 78.02 with 15 rounds...so his net score of 67.8 at Sky Creek indeed was a phenomenal round since it is his only gross score below 80 in a 1-day net event...we hope this feature allows all players to keep track of their improvement along with others o n tour! Join us this Sunday at Tangle Ridge...the course is in fabulous condition, especially for a rate of 35 bucks! |

Mahoney Wins Major #4 and $4850 With 36-Hole Total of - 4.3 |
Major #4 paid a total prize fund of $17,640 to 19 of 36 participants at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club in Kingston, OK on June 5th & 6th. The entire field of 36 players enjoyed a challenging and very scenic layout ranked as one of the top public courses in the USA by Golf Magazine. Dustin Mahoney (2.8 hcp) of Elk City, OK withstood a stiff challenge by home course club pro Eric Gaston (2 hcp) to win the event and a total of $4850. Dustin's 36-hole net score of 139.7 on the par 144 layout was just enough to clip Gaston's 140 total. The tour would like to thank the staff at Chickasaw Pointe for helping make the event a great time for all. The perfect (but very hot!)scoring conditions and great condition of the golf course again left competitors with no excuses...it was there for the taking. Over half the field got some type of paycheck, with an average of $985 per player paid out to the 19 winners. Our next Major will be held at Stonebridge CC (Dye Course)July 24-25...this private course is one of the best in Texas as it has hosted the NCAA Championships and PGA Tour Qualifying School and was home course of teaching legend Hank Haney for years, |

Jones Wins Fossil Creek at -3.4 |
Congrats to Marshall Jones of Arlington, TX who turned in his finest round in competitive golf with a gross score of 75 on a perfect day at Fossil Creek GC in Ft. Worth TX on Saturday, May 29th. The scoring continues to be very tight and somewhat low on the tour as the weather change from 40 - 48 degrees and windy every event for what seemed like an eternity (early nov thru late March)to absolutely perfect weather the last 4 events and 5 of the last 7 events has certainly had an effect on scoring. However, we all know it does not take long for the cycle to change as the low scoring will affect the handicap revisions. Come join us this weekend at Chickasaw Pointe, the golf course is in fabulous condition with the bent greens running an 11+ on the stimpmeter. There are only a few spots left so sign up now! |

Gipson Chips in Twice, Wins Forest Ridge at -1.2 |
Robbie Gipson of Sallisaw, OK proved on Saturday at Forest Ridge Golf Club in Broken Arrow, OK that sometimes luck can be just as important as skill when we play this crazy game of golf. The course played incredibly difficult for the field, with winds howling at 35mph on the tight and somewhat lengthy par 71 layout. Count me as one of the players who thought it nearly impossible to break your handicap on this day after experiencing the wrath of the course and conditions. But when you have 25 players competing, there is usually at least one exceptional tale to be told. Today it was Gipson, a 7.2 handicapper who got his first break on the par 5 fifth hole. He hit his tee shot OB, then hit his second tee shot which also appeared to be OB, then hit his third tee shot, which was questionable only to find out his 2nd tee shot stayed in bounds. He managed a 7 on the hole, which played into the 35mph wind and the avg score for the field on that hole was 6.2...No harm, no foul for Gipson as he proceeded to chip in TWICE (he earned a skin on both holes)...once on the 479 yd par 4 9th and the other on the 448 yd par 4 12th, which also played dead into the wind. Congratulations Robbie, you were the guy who had lady luck and lots of skill on your side Saturday. You also earned a nice paycheck of $1316 with your net score of -1.2! Other top finishers were Brad Barrick (4.2 hcp) with a net score +0.8, almost predictable since he comes from Woodward, OK where the wind REALLY comes sweeping down the plains, and Jerad Harklau, the only plus handicapper in the field who seems to be good no matter where he plays. Come join us next Saturday, May 29th at Fossil Creek GC in Ft. Worth or the following week for Major #4 to be held at Chickasaw Pointe GC at Lake Texoma. |

Competition and Scoring Hot at Castle Hills As Summer Approaches |
On a near perfect day at Castle Hills Golf Club, the competition was fierce as many of the players took advantage of the soft, slow greens and calm conditions to formulate a tight race that left contenders shaking their heads and wondering..."If only I hade made that 3 foot putt", which could have made a huge difference with 19 of the 33 players entered shooting net scores between 69 and 74, with 11 of those players shooting between 70 and 72. However, there were 2 players who distinguished themselves...congrats to Wayne Warren, who fired a net score of 66.6 that included an eagle on the 570 yd 17th (that's how you win a golf tournament!) to win 1st pl. and a total of $1695. Kirk Jameson also played a great round on his home course as the 4.5 handicapper fired a gross score of even par to take home $1055. Check out the results page on this event to see just how close the scoring was! Join us at one of our many upcoming events to be held at the finest golf courses in Oklahoma and Texas, including August 8th @ TPC - Las Colinas, home of the PGA Tour Byron Nelson Classic and Major #5 at Stonebridge CC (Dye Course) July 24th and 25th, site of NCAA Championships, PGA Tour Qualifying Scool and former home course of Hank Haney, legendary golf instructor. |

Major #3 Ends in Tie for the First Time Since 2001 |
For the first time since the FairWay Tour began in 2001, there was a tie for first in a 2-Day Major Event. Congratulations to Dustin Mahoney of Elk City, Ok and Eric Kelley of Dallas, who were the only players to break their handicap on a perfect weekend for golf at Waterchase Golf Club in Arlington, TX. Youngest Player with Lowest HCP Wins 1st; Oldest Player with Highest HCP Wins 2nd in Tight Finish at Texas Star |
Logan Waldrip edged out Donny Davis on Saturday at Texas Star GC in Euless, TX to win a total of $1190 and move his 2010 earnings on the FairWay Tour to $5975...good enough for 2nd place on the money list. The beauty of this event is that 1 stroke separated Waldrip and Davis in the Net Division, yet Waldrip is 43 years younger and got 12 less strokes and also spotted Mr. Davis one tee box...talk about variety at the top of the leaderboard! These results left the rest of the field with no excuses as handicaps and ages of those players fell somewhere in between. It was a tight finish nonetheless, as 9 other players posted scores within 5 strokes of Waldrip's winning net score of -1 (also his gross score with a zero hcp) and within 4 strokes of Davis's 2nd place net score of even par 71. So far this year, the FairWay Tour has paid $57,531 to 55 different players in 12 events...a total of 102 players have participated in 2010, which means over half have earned some type of paycheck! The earning potential of players is greater on the FairWay Tour because its pay matrix is greater and its 1-flight system pays more to the SAME group of players over and over without splitting the prize money into separate flights. Come join the fun...our next event in Texas will be Major #3 at Waterchase GC in Arlington May 1-2. Our next Oklahoma event is April 24 at White Hawk GC in Bixby, OK. |

Harklau Fires Gross Score of 138 To Take WinStar and $5000+ From Field of 30 Players |
Jared Harklau of Hot Springs, Arkansas got hot on Sunday and fired a 5 under par 67 at WinStar to capture his first Major title on the FairWay Tour. Jared added .8 strokes to his total as a plus handicap to give him a net score of 138.8, congratulations Jared on a fine display of golfing talent. The field was bunched up coming down the stretch as Charles Johnston, a 7.9 handicap, was even par thru 14 holes on Sunday and in command until a lackluster finish of 5 over the last 4 holes moved him to third place and a totla payout of $1265. John Harbison, a 9.9 handicap managed to hold his round together and continues to improve since he first joined the tour in winter '09 as an 8 handicap. His net total of 139.9 earned him a 2nd place finish and a total of $2575. Great play, great payouts, great time for all, especially the money winners! Our next event will be at Texas Star in Euless, TX on Saturday, April 17th...sign up today as the field is limited. |

An All Scottish Weekend as McAllister Breezes Past the Field of 46, Wins The Tribute with a Net Score of 71.5; Blake St. John Wins Rose Creek with a Net Score of 80.5 |
Alex McAllister, a native of the British Isles, must have felt right at home Sunday at The Tribute Golf Links in The Colony, TX. On a blustery afternoon with temperatures in the lo 60's and winds gusting past 30mph, the 5.5 handicap followed a front nine 41 with a back nine 35 to take home a first place check of $1750, which was 14X the $125 entry fee for the net division. The scoring was tight as net scores of 72, 72.3, 72.4 and 72.8 rounded out the top 5. For those of you wondering why the FairWay Tour uses decimal points in its scoring, the results of this event offer an explanation...an accurate handicap system should theoretically equalize the playing field, which is exactly what happened Sunday. If the tour had used whole numbers, there would have been a 4-Way tie for first and a 4-way tie for second (actually tie for 5th). We believe it is in the best interest of the players to distinguish a winner at these events and our unique scoring system does just that...congratulations to Alex for being the only player in the field of 46 golfers to break his handicap. In the other event played Saturday at Rose Creek GC in Edmond, OK Blake St. John, a native of Scotland, won a true survival test as winds of 45mph and temperature of 46 degrees made this day truly miserable when you add the cold rain. Blake finished his round and pocketed $500 from the field of 5 players for his efforts. Our next event will be Major #2 April 10-11 at WinStar GC 1 mile north of the Red River. There will be limited space available so register early to receive discounted entry and guarantee your spot in the field. |

The FGT membership drive will be ending March 31st. The tour now has 80 members (all members are between +2.5 and 12 hcp) for the 2010 season and expects continued rapid growth into the spring and summer. Golfers far and wide are finding out the FairWay Tour is the longest active (since 2001-over $1.5 million paid)cash-pay net tour with the best handicap system and most generous pay matrix. But most of the credit goes to the players. The FairWay Golf Tour values its membership support and realizes the success of our tour is achieved by delivering a quality product that motivates its members to tell others ...to show our appreciation, for the remainder of the 2010 season, any member who brings a new member to the tour ($100 membership) will receive a $50 credit to be used at any FairWay Tour Event. |

Waldrip Outlasts Winter Creek Gang to Win Major #1 with a Score of +0.5 |
Logan Waldrip, a zero handicapper, pulled off his first major victory on the FairWay Tour with steady play (gross scores of 72-73) and some misfortune on the closing hole from his competitors. It appeared as though local knowledge would prevail on this course as 3 out of the top 5 after round 1 were Winter Creek members, including Lance Ledbetter (67.6) and William Belknap (68.1) who both played exceptional on the first day of the event. Ledbetter was in command for the first 17 holes on Sunday and had a 3 stroke lead going into the 18th and needed only to make double bogey to win the championship when the golf gods decided to put their spin on the end of this event. Lance would have made Jean Van DeVelde proud as he recorded a nine on the 36th hole to finish third. William Belknap slipped past Ledbetter into 2nd place but easily could have won the event because of his red hot back nine on Saturday...or maybe I should say back 8 as he did his Van DeVelde impression on the 18th as well. The 4 handicapper was 4 under par gross on the back nine alone heading into the 18th on Saturday when he recorded an 8 to finish at 68.1. Congratulations to Logan, who cashed a winner's check totaling $4355.00. |

9-Year Tour Vet Lillard Catches Fire, Wins Cherokee Hills By 7.8 Strokes |
Doug Lillard has been a loyal member of the FairWay Golf Tour since 2001 and has 264 rounds in our system. Saturday may have produced his finest round considering the conditions as Doug smoked the field with a gross score of +7. Subtract the 7.2 strokes given to him by the handicap system and Doug easily beats the field of 16 players and wins a total of $1180 on the difficult (to say difficult really doesn't give the course its due) par 70 layout. Mike Brownell finished a distant second with a net score of 77.6 and two players, Trey Coursey and newcomer Kacey Threet (both 3 handicappers) tied at +9. If you are a player who has not come out this year because the weather has hindered your practice, well, you're missing the boat as it doesn't appear ANYONE has been able to practice much with the scores a reflection of the cold winter. Surely most of you think you could get within nine strokes of your handicap...even with a broken arm. Yesterday that would have cashed a check and certainly not damaged your handicap. COME JOIN THE TOUR...MEMBERSHIP IS FREE IF YOU PLAY BEFORE MARCH 31st! |

Ingram Fires Even Par With 1.5 Handicap @ Bear Creek |
Congratulations to Jason Ingram (1.5 hcp), who bested the field of 34 players with a net score of 70.5 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Bear Creek Golf Club in Dallas, TX and earned a nice paycheck of $1815.00 on the par 72 layout in the process. Jason shot even par to tie for first in the gross division ($110) as well as winning the front nine nassau ($345) and the 1-Day Net Division ($1300). Jason also collected $60 in the deuces game for making a 2 on hole #8. All told, Jason made money in every division he entered, which cost him a total of $200 on the front end but made him $1815 on the back end, nearly 10X his entry fee. Great job Jason, that's how you cash a big paycheck on the FairWay Tour...enter every division, then become the only player in the field to beat their handicap! Speaking of handicaps, there have been 119 rounds played so far this year on the FairWay Tour and only 7 of those rounds were under par. Four of those rounds, including the lowest (-2.2 net), were shot at Tangle Ridge Golf Club the first event of the year. Q: How often should I play to -- or beat -- my handicap? Answer: If it's accurate, you should average about three shots above your handicap. The USGA handicap system is based on 96 percent of the best 10 of a golfer's last 20 rounds, not simply average score. Scores normally fit into the classic bell-shaped curve. More than half of your scores should be within three strokes of three over your handicap. The player will better the handicap only about 20 percent of the time, or once every five rounds. Golfers should only beat their handicap by three strokes one out of every 20 rounds (source: USGA). On the FairWay Tour so far this year it is even more rare than the USGA says. In 119 rds, a player has broken their handicap 5.8% of the time and a player has yet to shoot more than 3 below their handicap. Just a few numbers to remember while deciding where and when to play your next event. Franke Filling The Cup; Only Player To Break Par at Tierra Verde |
Kurt Franke is doing more these days than working long hours filling orders at the family business, aptly named Franke Filling...his hot putter is filling the cup with golf balls on the weekend and making some nice paychecks in the process! Kurt has a new lease on life after a near fatal car wreck left his body broken but renewed his mind and spirit. He has played in all but one event since he joined the FairWay Tour in October 2009 and his game is starting to show up as a result, being the only player in the field of 25 players to beat his handicap with a net score of 70...which was worth a total of $1285. "This is the first time I have made over $1000 playing in a golf tournament!", an elated Franke said after his round. Other top finishers included Chickasaw Pointe Head Pro Paul Aycock, who fired a net score of 72.5 to take 2nd place as the top 7 finishers earned a paycheck. The Nassau Division costs $40 to enter and paid $285 per nine to the winners. Franke won the front nine with a net score of 34 and Wes Neesham, a 2 handicapper, birdied the last three holes on the back nine for a net score of 34 and $285 to add to his 6th place finish for a total of $435...not a bad paycheck for a 2 handicapper with a gross score of 77. Our next event will be held Saturday, Feb. 27th at Bear Creek Golf Club's West Course. Please enter online or contact Tour Director at 405-203-4653 by Thursday at 5 pm to guarantee your spot. Come join the fun and compete for cash prizes while meeting new friends and business associates on the best handicap tour in the region. |

Terrell Takes Waterchase With Net Score of +2 |
Congratulations to David Terrell, a 5 handicapper from Trophy Club, TX, who fired a net score of 74 (79 gross) Sunday at Waterchase GC to beat a field of 15 players under chilly conditions and take home the first place check of $750. The tour has added an influx of new players and is excited about the 2010 season. The FGT Handicap System is as strong as ever...there have been 4 events played so far this year averaging 15 players and the average winning net score is +0.3. In 2009, the average winning score for the entire year was -0.6. What does this mean? With the most generous pay matrix in the business and the most accurate handicap system, the FairWay Tour expects 2010 to be a banner year...come join the fun! |

Leverett Wins Southern Oaks by 4 Strokes in British Open Conditions |
Clay Leverett, a 1.3 handicap from Ft. Worth, fired a front nine 34 on what started as a nice day before 30mph north winds and a cold pelting rain descended on the field of 21 players at Southern Oaks GC. His back nine 38 under MOST difficult conditions was easily good enough for the victory with a net score of 70.7 and a total of $1430, nearly 10 times his entry fee. Some players did not finish (I can't say that I blame them) while others choked down their pride and turned in scores 10 - 15 strokes higher than their usual round. The good news for those players is their scores will go into the system and count for their handicap...which can't hurt with spring and better weather just around the corner. Bad weather players may reap the benefits of a higher handicap and easier conditions, a double bonus when spring arrives along with fair weather golfers who still have fair weather handicaps! |

2010 Off To Fast Start Despite Weather |
The FairWay Golf Tour is off to a fast start in 2010 as Kurt Franke bested the field of 17 players in the net division Saturday at a very wet Tangle Ridge GC to win the year's first event and $1000 in prize money. The tour also played Sunday at Winter Creek CC in Blanchard, OK where Larry Merrick cashed a $500 1st place check over 7 others with a net score of +2.5...Congratulations to Kurt and Larry! In other news, $100 Membership dues will continue to be waived for all players who play in at least one event before March 1st in an effort to bring more players to the longest active and best paying tour in the region. Compare our 2010 pay matrix to other tours in the area and you will see the HUGE disparity for basically the same entry fees. Not only are we the best at paying our players...we have the best and most proven handicap system in the business, paying over $1.5 million since 2001...the longest active net tour in the region. To prove our handicap system is best, compare the winning scores with other net tours in the area...the average WINNING net score in 2009 was -0.6. A player could average +3.1 and still finish in the money in 2009! Plus, we have MORE events to play, with the 2010 schedule featuring 38 events, 8 of which are 2-Day Majors in Oklahoma and Texas, with a Super Major scheduled for Las Vegas in July... So Come play the FairWay, it's the only way! |

Survival Test @ WinStar |
The weather was anything but perfect today at WinStar Golf Club as temperatures and winds were almost 40 at 11am when 8 brave (or crazy) golfers started off #1 tee at WinStar GC on the Red River. Nobody in the field hit less than driver, 3- wood into the 455 yd par 4 1st, which played straight into the cold, gusty wind. A net score of +2.9 was good enough for first place and $590, followed by +5.9 ($300) and +6 ($250)...the other five competitors shot net scores of +6.6, +6.6, +6.9, +8.5 and +9.5. |

Stinneford Wins Tour Championship With Net Score of +4.4 |
Congratulations to Tim Stinneford of Euless, TX, winner of the Tour Championship held at Texas Star GC. Stinneford was able to hold off a stiff challenge by first round leader Mack Hamilton and take home the winner's check, a total of $1500. Mack, a +1 handicap from Ardmore, OK was unable to find his touch on the difficult greens during round 2 and followed his opening round 70 with a 76 on the par 71 layout for a net score of 147.5...Stinneford, meanwhile, maintained a steady putter throughout the 36-hole event held on his home course, which proved to be the difference in the end. The Tour will be holding its next event at The WinStar World Casinos Golf Course on December 5th at 11AM. Come check out the great course and best casino this side of Vegas! |

First Time Player Hamilton (+1 hcp) Wins Major #8 |
Mack Hamilton, a 24 yr old scratch golfer from Ardmore, OK was questioning whether or not it would be a good idea to participate in a handicapped event with no handicap. As Tour Director, I did my best to explain to him the difference between a handicapped event at your club, where a net score of 62 may or may not be good enough to win, and a Pro-Net Event run by a tour that has hosted over 300 events and paid over $1 million in prize money using USGA approved software and proven tour policies that effectively wipe out any attempts at sandbagging. Hamilton started as a zero and moved to a +1 the second day as he fired gross scores of 70-72. He added the 1 stroke to his total for a net score of 143, good enough for a 1-stroke victory and a total of $2675 from the field of 16 players, 11 of which participated in the 2-Day Major Division. Congratulations to Mack Hamilton for believing in his game and believing in the FairWay System enough to cash a big paycheck in his first event. |

+2.6 Wins Major 7 at the Wire in Crazy Finish |
The competition heated up for the field of 16 players in the final round on Sunday at Dornick Hills CC in Ardmore, OK and so did Jeff Higgins as he birdied the 15th and 18th to jump 3 players and fire an even par 70 (-2 on the back nine). The 2.8 handicap shot 78 the first day and ended up with a 2-day net total of 142.6 (+2.6), good for $3,180. As Higgins was quietly shooting 70 in the second to last group, there was a battle going on in the last group between Rieck, Belknap and Copeland coming down the stretch. Copeland made his move after being stymied under a tree and receiving an unfavorable ruling on the 12th. He shanked his approach shot, got up and down for bogey from there and was seemingly out of contention. But he hit the shot of the tournament and probably his life 2 holes later on the 320 yd 14th as his drive somehow stopped 3 feet from the cup for eagle on the uphill blind shot that requires at least 295 yd carry over bunkers and then must roll up a plateau to a tucked pin. He parred in from there after a clutch up and down from the bunker on 18 to finish 2nd at +3.8 and earn a total of $1700. Belknap, a 4.9 hcp, was in command to start the back nine after a 36 on the front, but he hooked one OB on 15 and, as all of us have experienced, weird things started happening to him after that. He ended up with a 43 on the back nine and 3rd place at +4.6, good for a total of $750. Rieck, a 2.3 hcp, played consistently and was +1 thru 13 before his putter failed him, missing 4ft par putts on 14 and 16, then 3-putting the 18th from 12ft...make those and win, miss them and fall from 1st to 4th at 145.6. Most important, the FairWay Tour provided fair and equitable competition and the winner played the best at the end when it counted most. The tour will be playing Major 8 at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club on Lake Texoma Oct.31-Nov.1...if you like to play a great golf course while competing for cash prizes using your handicap and meeting new friends, come join us! |

FairWay Tour Vet Turner Wins Nationwide Soboba Classic, Earns $180,000 and 2010 PGA Tour Card |
The FairWay Tour and its players send a sincere congratulations to Jerod Turner, who lived out many of our dreams by winning the Nationwide Tour Soboba Classic and earning his PGA Tour Card for 2010...and an added bonus of $180,000 in one of the richest purses of the year on the Nationwide Tour. Many of us on our tour have played with Jerod and knew he had the talent to accomplish great things on the golf course. Turner currently maintains a +3.1 handicap and in 88 rounds from May 2003 - October 2008 earned $43,174 on the FairWay Tour, 5th best all-time (he got there in 88 rounds...the 4 players ahead of him have all recorded over 200 rds). His outstanding play and support of our handicap tour and his belief that our handicap system was the best (he never played other net tours) provided proof over the years that anyone, no matter their handicap, has a fair chance! Join us this weekend at Dornick Hills CC, a favorite of Turner who played 7 times at this site, winning 3 of those events. Players on our tour can breathe a sigh of relief...I am sure he will not be there this weekend! |

+2.9 Wins At Winter Creek |
Burt Rieck shot a gross score of 77 (2.1 hcp = net score of 74.9) on Saturday at Winter Creek CC to get a surprising win over Jeff Higgins and Alan Merrick, who finished second and third with net scores of 75 and 75.5. The course conditions were great and the weather was nice as nobody in the field could find their "A" game and Rieck got the default win. In other news, Major #7 will be held at the famous Perry Maxwell designed Dornick Hills CC on Oct. 10-11, located in Ardmore, OK. The course is 70 miles N. of Denton, TX on I-35 and 70 mi. south of Norman, OK on I-35. The course has played host to numerous national events, including "The Maxwell Tournament", a favorite among major college golf teams. The bent grass greens were punched Sept. 10th, so they will be their normal, fast and undulating self, just like all of Maxwell's designs, which also include Southern Hills CC in Tulsa. The event starts at 12 noon Saturday, Oct. 10th. Tee Times will begin at 9am Sunday with the Winner's Check Presentation and Dornick's Sunday Brunch Buffet immediately following play. $475 Online Entry Fee includes all 36-hole course fees, range balls and some of the finest Southern-Style cooking you could wish for at the conclusion of play Sunday afternoon! 1st place $4000 w/full field of 32 players... 1. $4000 2. $2000 3. $1000 4. $600 5. $400 6. $375 7. $350 8. $325 |

Net Par Broken by Only One Player for the Fourth Consecutive Event |
Congrats to Tim Stinneford, who used home course knowledge to edge the field at Texas Star GC in Euless, TX on Sundy, Sept. 6th. Tim fired a net score of 70.5 on the demanding par 71 layout for a 2.8 shot victory and a total of $635 in winnings over Bill Blankenship of Ft. Worth, TX. Bill's net score of 73.3 (gross score of 74 with 0.7 hcp) edged out Charles Johnston's 73.4 (gross score of 80 with a 6.6 hcp) and Michael Juneau's 74 (gross score of 77 with a 3 hcp). |

Brownell Wins Major 5; Only Player To Break Handicap |
For the third consecutive event the FairWay Golf Tour paid a winner who was the only player to break net par. Congratulations to Mike Brownell of Bartlesville, OK, who collected $2130 by shooting a 36 - Hole total of 143.1...9 tenths of a stroke under his hcp. Mike hit his driver well both days, a must on the 7,380 yd University of Oklahoma layout. You never know what might happen in this crazy game as Mike thought he would show up and "donate" after the six handicapper finished in 17th pl. out of 22 golfers in the last event at Rose Creek August 16th. For those who would like to keep score, 79 tournament scores were posted into the FairWay Tour Handicap System for the month of August and a total of 6 scores were below net par, with the lowest being -1.5 (70.5)...If you want a Fair Chance to win, play the FairWay Tour...the most advanced handicap system in competitive golf with 9 yrs of proven accuracy. This week's event will be Sunday at Texas Star GC in Euless, TX, a preview of the Tour Championship to be held there 11/21. Come join us because to WIN, you must first TEE IT UP! |

Good, Better, Best |
For the second week in a row, the FairWay Golf Tour posted one red number on the leaderboard as the field of 22 players struggled under windy conditions at Rose Creek GC in Edmond, OK. William Belknap (4.5 hcp) of Lindsay, OK posted a net score of 72.5, which appeared to be good enough for the win until Jason Ingram (1.0) of Ft. Worth, TX went a half stroke better by carding a net score of even par 72 after firing the low gross score of the day at 73. But the Best round of the day came from the last pairing as Matt Best (2.3 hcp) of Pauls Valley, OK shot a net score of 71.7 to take home a total of $1105. |

Rushing Only Player To Break Par At Coyote Ridge |
Jeff Rushing of Ft. Worth TX, a 3.3 handicapper playing in his 4th event on the FairWay Golf Tour, added his name to the list of first time winners by posting a net score of -1.3 at Coyote Ridge GC in Carrollton, TX to beat the field of 14 players by 4.3 strokes, the largest margin of victory for a 1-Day Event this year. Dax Gregg (2.0 hcp) finished a distant second at +3.0, followed by Sam Murphy at +3.5 and Donny Davis at +3.6. |

Finney Wins at Winter Ceek |
Congratulations to Cody Finney of Ft. Worth Tx, winner of Saturday's event at Winter Creek CC with a score of -1.5. The net score of 70.5 was the third consecutive event where the winner posted a score higher than -2 net and the second time in the last 4 events where the tour paid a first time winner. Major #5 will be held this week at Coyote Ridge GC in Carrollton, TX...Although the course is only 15 minutes from The Tribute, site of Major #4, there is a huge difference in the golf course. Coyote Ridge boasts a rating of 75.2/141 as compared to the 73/128 of The Tribute (at least three strokes harder), which is even more defenseless with no wind. "If a player breaks their handicap at Coyote Ridge, they can expect to cash a big check, if not win the event, where that certainly was not going to be the case at The Tribute", said Tour Director Burt Rieck. |

Everyone Has A Fair Chance |
As evidenced once again this weekend, the FairWay Golf Tour provided a forum for competition in which almost all participants had a chance to win coming down the stretch. At the two events over the weekend, (Sat. at Fossil Creek in FW and Sun. at the soon to be Hard Rock Casino course in Tulsa) the tour provided a little bit of everything. Tim Stinneford will tell you first time players can win as he fired a net 70 to edge out veterans Burt Rieck (70.2), Donald Chapman (70.4), Harvey Pulido (70.8) and Doug Lillard (71). These players all had more than their fair chance at victory as Rieck (2.8 hcp) triple bogeyed the 11th and double-bogeyed the 15th, but birdied the 14th and 16th to salvage second place with a gross score of 73. Chapman (6.6 hcp) reeled off three birdies in a row on holes 11-13 after a front nine 41, only to bogey 15 and 17 to fall into 3rd pl. at 70.4. Pulido (7.2 hcp) doubled 15 and 16 to finish fourth at 70.8. Lillard bogeyed 14 and 15 before tripling 16 to finish at 71 and just out of the money in 5th place. Want to hear more...Don Tate (6hcp) was the leader at the turn with an even par 36 befor shooting 44 on the back nine for a net 74. And even Donny Davis (11 hcp), the sole leader at -3 after a birdie at 14, finished double bogey, bogey, triple bogey, double bogey for a net score of 77. More of the same on Sunday in Tulsa as veteran Eddie McGoveran (6.8 hcp) fired a net score of -1.8 to beat newcomer Cody Finney (6.8 hcp) by 1 stroke after Cody bogeyed the final four holes, including a three putt on 18. The moral of this story? A.) Never listen to mid round chatter about how this guy or that guy is running away with the tourney...there are 18 holes to be played, and B.) Play a tour where everyone has a fair chance! |

Close Call @ Hawks Creek |
Major 4 Champion Donald Chapman stayed hot with his game on a hot Sunday afternoon at Hawk's Creek in Ft. Worth after firing a front nine 34 (gross) to win the Front Nassau and $210 with a net score of 30.35. But he cooled off on the back nine with a 43 (gross) to give him an 18-Hole net total of 69.7. I'm sure he got hot again in the clubhouse when he saw the the 69.6 posted by Dax Gregg (2.4 course hcp), who also posted the low gross score of even par 72! Congratulations to Dax, a first time winner on the FairWay Golf Tour, who pocketed $970 by beating the field of 14. Rounding out the money winners were Chapman (2nd pl. 69.7/$560), Harvey Pulido (3rd pl. 70.4/$260), Mike Reinhardt (T4th pl. 74/$135) and Jeff Rushing (T4th pl. 74/$75) |

Chapman Wins Major 4 - The Tribute Yields Low Scores Under Benign Conditions |
Congratulations to Donald Chapman of Decatur, TX, winner of Major #4 at The Tribute GC in The Colony, TX on 7/11-12.The Scottish links style course, designed for windy conditions, played the easiest of any major in the history of the FairWay Golf Tour since its inception, with all money winners finishing under par and 18 of the 21 players in the field shooting net par or better in at least one round of the 36-hole Championship. Tour money leader Jeremy Copeland said, "The course was great fun to play, but the players knew the scores were going to be low when you have no wind, 90 yd wide fairways, soft greens and perfect lies all day." Chapman's winning score of 135.3 was also the lowest winning total in 40+ majors dating back to 2001. Next week's event will be held Sunday, July 19th at Hawk's Creek GC, where competitors will receive a $50 credit w/12 or more players if they break their hcp and do not finish in the money. The online entry fee is $125 and first place is $1000 with 20 players. |

Best Finishes Off Kickingbird |
Matt Best, a 2.9 handicap from Pauls Valley, OK fired a 4 under par 31 on the back nine at Kickingbird GC in Edmond, OK on Sunday to take first place from the field of 12 players and earned $620. His net total of -4.9(gross score of 68 on the par 70 layout) was the lowest score on tour this year. Bryan DonCarlos (also 2.9 hcp) of Woodward, Ok continued his consistent play by winning 1st place in the gross division with a 71 (Matt did not enter the gross division) and second place in the net with a 68.1. Also finishing in the money at just over par with their hcp was Jeff Higgins @ 70.3 (3.7 hcp also got 2nd in low gross with +4 74) and Wayne Roberts at 70.9 (5.1 hcp. fired 76). |

Photo Finish @ Fairfax |
Sunday's event at Fairfax Golf Club in Edmond, OK came down to the last hole for three players and ultimately the last putt for one player as Jeremy Copeland (71.7) edged out Larry Meek (71.8) and Bryan DonCarlos (71.9) by gambling on a difficult 3-wood shot to hit the par 5 18th in two. The two-putt birdie was just enough as DonCarlos lipped out his 12 ft. attempt at the win, which bumped him from 1st to 3rd. Larry Meek played a hot back nine to take the Nassau for the side and sneak into 2nd pl. in the Net Division. The front nine Nassau was won by Charles Johnston, who rattled off three consecutive birdies on holes 6-8. Copeland (3.3 hcp) and DonCarlos (3.1 hcp) split the Low Gross Division with 75's. |

Tour Launches Guaranteed Minimum $1085 Cash Payout In Texas; Pulido Wins First Event |
Congratulations to Harvey Pulido of Ft. Worth, winner of the year's first event in Texas at Southern Oaks GC in Burleson. Harvey shot a gross score of 82 with a handicap of 8 to give him a net score of +2. The FairWay Golf Tour is guaranteeing cash payouts of at least $1085 in its Texas Events, which made the payout matrix of $600 $300 and $185 effective for the 8 participants. Jeremy Copeland won the $300 cash 2nd pl. prize with a net score of +3. There was a three-way tie for 3rd place at +5, which means 5 out of 8 players won cash! What does the new cash payout matrix mean? With an entry fee of $185, which includes course costs and tour administrative fees, a player is guaranteed at least 6 times his money (less green fee and admin. fee) for first place and at least his entry fee back for third place regardless of the number of participants. In short, the tour guarantees a 10 player payout regardless of the number of players. The payout matrix will rise with each participant after 10 players. |

Copeland Wins Major 2 @ Rose Creek |
Jeremy Copeland won his 2nd FairWay Golf Tour of Oklahoma and Texas Major Title here at Rose Creek GC in Edmond, OK on a blustery day at the links style course which fit the Troon Golf layout. Cold North winds blowing 25-35 mph whipped the golfers around the course, but Copeland, a 3.4 handicap on Sunday, was able to keep his game intact and hold off a host challengers for this Oklahoma mini-tour event by one putting ten greens and playing the last seven holes at 1 under par to post a three stroke victory at 143.9 on the par 144 course. Those challengers included first round leader Eddie McGoveran who seemed to be in control until he hit the wrong ball from the middle of the fairway on the par 5 14th hole and buckled coming down the stretch. The famous Will Rogers once said "if you don't like the weather in Oklahoma just wait thirty minutes and it will change"...Every golfer in the field would agree with that as Saturday was a picture perfect day for golf only to be followed by the miserable Sunday conditions. Copeland was able to take the good and the bad and make it a profitable and memorable weekend of golf. |

Jerod Turner Makes Final Stage of PGA Tour Q School |
FairWay Tour veteran Jerod Turner of Ft. Worth TX achieved a lifetime goal by making it to the Final Stage of PGA Tour Q-School to be held Dec. 3-8 at PGA West. Jerod had career earnings on the FairWay Tour of $43,174 and never carried a handicap higher than +1.4...considering we are a NET Tour this is a very impressive stat. The good news for FairWay Tour players is we no longer have to worry about Jerod taking all the prize money because he will have status on either the Nationwide or PGA Tour next season! Congrats, Jerod! Also, don't forget about the Tour Championship for Oklahoma to be held Dec. 6th and 7th at Cherokee Hills Resort and Casino in Tulsa. +16 net won the first major event of 2008 at this course! Great, undulating greens and rolling terrain make this course a must play and true challenge. |

Johnston Only Player To Break Net Par In First Major Victory at Dornick Hills Fall Classic |
The sky was sunny, the greens firm and the fairways green on this spectacular weekend for golf in Southern Oklahoma. Charles Johnston brought with him a game that fried the field almost as good as the club fried their chicken Sunday afternoon here at Dornick Hills CC. Johnston, a 5 handicapper and hospital administrator from nearby Pauls Valley, OK won his first major on our tour in 18 tries thanks to a sizzling round of -4.2 on Saturday afternoon, the gross score of 72 was his best single round score in over 120 rounds on tour dating to April 2003...He followed that round with a net score of +1.6 (+7 gross) for a 36 hole total of -2.6 and $2450...Jeff Higgins, out of Winter Creek CC in Blanchard, OK, made the strongest move on Sunday with a net score of -3.2 (71), which was good enough to sweep the nassau and net divisions for Sunday and move him from 11th pl to 5th pl. in the 36 hole event with a net total of +4.6 ($1130). Other top finishers were runner up Matt Best at +.9 ($1580), 3rd place Derek Watson at +2.5 ($1280) and 4th pl Chuck Taylor at +3.4 ($900) Please go to results page and click on event to view full results. |

Turner Wins Texas Summer Championship |
Jerod Turner, a +2 handicap from Ft. Worth, played near perfect golf under perfect conditions at Waterchase GC over the weekend to collect $3000 as the 1st place finisher in the FairWay Texas Summer Championship...His gross scores of 71-67 included a back nine 33 Sunday on the challenging layout in Arlington, TX. Jerod has been playing alot of golf lately as he has made it through Monday Qualifiers in successive weeks on the Nationwide Tour. Jerod fired a first round 68 on Thursday at the Utah Classic and was tied for 16th before a 75 on Friday left him one shot short of qualifying for the weekend. Turner lands in Dallas Saturday morning and makes his tee time for the noon start at Waterchase. As it turned out, he needed all three birdies on the back nine 33 Sunday which left him with a two round net total of -2.4, good for a 1 shot victory over Bryan DonCarlos of Woodward, OK, who finished at -1.4. The only other player to break net par over the weekend in the 20 player field was Ramon Romero, who finished at 143.1 on the par 144 layout. Jorge Gomez and Bobby Stark were also money winners with net scores of 144.9 and 146 respectively. |

Your HCP Questions Answered - Source: USGA |
Q. How Often Should You Beat Your Handicap? A. Not Often, In fact, you should average three shots HIGHER than your handicap...For example, if your handicap is 6 and the Course Rating is 73, you should average 82, not 79. More than half your scores should be within three strokes of three over your handicap (82 to 85 in this example). Most golfers beat their handicap (78 or better in this example) only 20 percent of the time and beat it by three strokes one out of every 20 rounds...For a person with a handicap of 6 to break 70, the odds are 1,138-1...To do it twice, it would take more than 700 years! |

What Are The Possibilities? |
As a Tour Director who has hosted 500+ handicapped events, I can speak from experience when giving an explanation for someone actually playing well!! Although it is hard to believe, it is ACTUALLY POSSIBLE for someone to improve at this crazy game. Case in point #1: Ed McGoveran is a 56 yr. old veteran of the FairWay Tour. A member since its inception in 2001, Ed carried a 12 handicap when we started playing our events and was as high as a 14 in the late '90s on a previous tour where we competed against each other. One day 6 or 7 yrs ago at Silverhorn Ed was smoking the field at +6 getting 12 shots going into the 18th hole when it became apparent to me he was improving...that was about two minutes before he hit 4 TEE SHOTS IN A ROW OUT OF BOUNDS RIGHT (you could have thrown a blanket over them) to lose by 1 shot. Yes, golf is a cruel game, but today Ed is 7 yrs older and carries a 4.2 HCP...Case in point #2: William Belknap is another veteran of the FairWay Tour with 68 scores recorded since 2001. I remember watching William play my majors with an 8 or 9 handicap a few years back and he'd be shaking like a leaf on the 1st tee box (I wondered if he could get the ball to stay on the tee!). Always the competitor, William learned on our tour how to manage his game under pressure. That, along with recent shoulder surgery and hard work on his game has resulted in his best two rounds in his last 2 starts. So it is possible for a player to SEE THE LIGHT so to speak, and win multiple times in a short span on our tour. One thing for sure, the two players mentioned above take their game seriously and their improvement inevitably comes fom hard work and the desire to get better...the results will show up on the money list as well... Remember, when your handicap goes down, your winnings go up! |

67-Yr Old Taylor Impressive, Clips Field Again |
Age is no excuse for Chuck Taylor...as a matter of fact, it is not even an issue as the cagey 67 yr. old veteran (in more ways than one as he is ex-military!!) edged past the field for the second time in his last three starts (he also won major #3 May 3-4) by firing a gross score of 75 today at Lincoln West Golf Course. His net score of 66 bested other net scores of 66.7, 67 and 68.2 as he just seems to have a knack for getting the job done. Chuck should be an inspiration to all who love the game and want to compete. As Tour Director, I have to say Chuck Taylor is a perfect example of the type of competitor we envisioned when starting the tour...a winner all the way around. Great playing, Chuck! |

Brown Brings Coursey To His Knees |
Dusty Brown is probably the longest hitter in the state of Oklahoma. The evidence was there as the National Long Drive Finalist hit his drive 372 yds. on the 572 yd. 14th hole at Cherokee Hills Resort on Sunday, which was one of many cannon blasts witnessed that day by his fellow competitors...That being said, Trey Coursey had an opportunity to win on the 18th hole but his 8 ft. birdie putt slid past the high side of the cup as he dropped to his knees knowing it was his last chance to pass Brown for the win. Coursey birdied 14 and 15 to get within striking distance but could not finish the deal...As always on our tour, it came down to the final hole before a winner was decided. |

Badders Finishes Strong, Continues Streak |
Jamison Badders won the FairWay Tour event at Thorntree CC by the narrowest of margins Thursday afternoon in DeSoto, TX beating 5 contenders, all within 1 stroke of each other thru 15 holes, with solid pars on the last three to lock up the win with a net score of +2.4 ...Check this out: Jamison is a 0.4 handicap on the FairWay Tour but does not have a score under 70 in his most recent 20 scores but also does not have a score over 76 in his scores that count to calculate his handicap index...instead of complaining about his low handicap, he simply wins and wins and wins. As a matter of fact, in his last 20 starts dating to April of last year only three times has he been shut completely out of the money in a FairWay Tour event, including a streak of 6 straight events dating to last fall. That is very impressive considering these are handicapped events. The tour would like more competitors like Jamison Badders, who sets an example for all by his consistent play which is a result of his winning attitude. |

Watson Wins FairWay Masters |
Derek Watson, a +2 handicap, fired a back nine 33 on Sunday that included a birdie on the difficult 18th hole to steal a victory away from Jamison Badders, a 0.9 handicap who led the event for the first 35 holes and seemed in control throughout the first 34 holes before bogeying the 17th and 18th. Derek fired a gross score of 143 on the par 144 layout and added a total of 3.2 strokes to his scorecard to give him a net total of +2.2...The avg.winning score after 10 events for 2008 going into this event was +2.4...Upcoming events will be Forest Ridge GC in Tulsa, OK Sun 4/20 at 1pm...Texas Star Golf Club in Euless, TX Th 4/24 at noon...Boiling Springs GC in Woodward, OK Sat 4/26 at 11am and Major #3 at Winter Creek CC in Blanchard, OK May 3-4. |

Coursey Wins At Battle Creek Despite Triple On 18 |
Trey Coursey of Broken Arrow, Ok played a very solid 17 holes of golf Sunday afternoon at Battle Creek GC in Tulsa...So solid, in fact, the three handicapper got away with a nasty hook out of bounds on 18 that resulted in a triple bogey and some anxious moments in the clubhouse. Trey was kicking himself but the tension soon gave way to smiles when no one in the remaining groups could match his net score of 72.6 on the par 72 layout. Trey was 1 over par thru 17 holes on a chilly, windy, rainy and otherwise miserable day for golf where carts remained on paths and players were able to lift, clean and place their ball. Dell Wilson of Tulsa was the only other player to register a decent score with a net total +2, good for second place. |

Sharks Circle, Then Attack! |
It was only a matter of time before the scratch golfers realized their is opportunity on the FairWay Golf Tour. On a beautiful Saturday at Winter Creek CC scratch golfers David Jennings, a pro from Duncan, and Colby Ricks, an amateur college player for NEO, showed why handicaps look tough to beat on paper, but maybe not so tough on the course as they bested the field of 16. Jennings (1 hcp) fired a -1 71 and Ricks (1 hcp) fired an even par 72 to separate themselves from the field. Their net scores of 70 and 71 were good enough for a 1-2 finish. They were the best players, by handicap, going into the event and recorded the best net scores of the day as well. |

"Fast Eddie" Blazes Field By Record 9.9 Strokes at +3.1 |
Once again the weather was a difference maker in Tulsa as the brutal conditons wreak havoc on the playing field. Ed McGoveran, a 4.9 handicapper from Tulsa, seemed unfazed by the 20-25 mph north winds and 45 degree temperatures on the front nine as he fired a 2 over par 38 to take a commanding lead. On the back nine, the weather continued to batter the players as the small field of eight became seven and the course only yielded some decent scores when holes 14-17 turned downwind. McGoveran, a tour veteran of seven years, has won 5 times at White Hawk but never was the going as easy as this day. Ed's score of 75.1 (80) defeated new member Dennis Yost's net 85 (94) by 9.9 shots...a tour record. The tour welcomes new members Andrew Garrett, a 2 handicapper from Sapulpa and Yost, a 9 handicapper from Tulsa. |

Luck Runs Dry For Leaders...Brownell, Murphy End Droughts |
The FairWay Golf Tour held two events over the weekend of March 8-9. On Saturday at kickinbird GC in Edmond, OK, Mike Brownell of Tulsa ended a streak of four consecutive 1-Day events where he finished out of the money by less than 1 stroke. Persistence paid off for Mike on this day, however, as Tony Proctor suffered back to back three putts on the 15th and 16th. Mike saw the tables turn in his favor as his net score of -0.9 edged Proctor's score of -0.1. Nice job, Mike! On Sunday at Tangle Ridge GC in Cedar Hill, TX Sam Murphy wins with style on his home course, beating the field by three stokes with a net score of -3.9. Sam likes to win by wide margins as his last victory was a tour record -9.9 at Thorntree CC in the summmer of '07. Sam's gross score of 77 was his first round under 82 in over 10 tries since the stellar 73 at Thorntree CC last year. Can you say hot and cold? In other news Sunday, Jamison Badders continued his struggles to finish rounds as he faltered down the stretch for the third consecutive event. Jamison was in position to win the final major of the year at Split Rail in 2007 before double bogeying the 18th. On Sunday, he was going to the 18th at -1.9 before again double bogeying. Meanwhile, fellow competitor Shane Carlisle birdies 16 and 18 to capture second place with a net score of -0.3. "I had a bad swing thought on 18 tee box", said Badders as he found the water with his drive and had to settle for third place at +.1. |

+14.6 Wins Major #1 @ Cherokee Hills |
Roger Bonaobra of Tulsa, Ok blasted his second shot into the cup from a bunker on the 11th hole Sunday at Cherokee Hills Resort and used that momentum to win Major #1 by two strokes over Bryan DonCarlos of Woodward, OK. 12 golfers braved the cold weather on Saturday and were rewarded with a picture perfect back nine on Sunday afternoon. The +14.6 total was a record high score for a 2-Day event on the FairWay Tour. I am guessing this is the highest 2 round total EVER recorded in a pro-net event. Considering the ball was played "up" one grip length, this is an almost unbelievably high winning total. Tour Director guaranteed net par would be a winner, as always, on tour and I would say this week that would be an understatement. To all those who thought about playing but didn't, just remember, if you don't tee it up you can't win! |

Sub-70 Rounds Rare! |
A couple of interesting stats: 1.) Since 8/26/07 there have been 14+ events and well over 150 rounds played on the FairWay Golf Tour...Since Brad Barrick (2.6 hcp) of Woodward, OK shot 68.6 (1.4 under net par on the par 70 Boiling Springs State Park layout) on that day only twice has it taken a score lower than 69.9 to win in the 1-Day FairWay Net Division on this tour!!!...Shane Kelley (0.9 hcp) shot a 68.1 on 11/8/07 at Bear Creek West and Tim Cochran (4.1 hcp) fired a 65.9 on the par 70 Dornick Hills CC under pristine conditions on 9/23/07. Interesting to note two of the three sub-70 rounds (Barrick, Cochran) were from tiny Woodward, OK... 2.) So far in 2008 there have been 3 events with the winning scores being 78.5, 75.7 and 70.8...AVG.Winning score in 2008 is 75! These stats are important to me as Tour Director because it provides proof that handicap golf is a very effective form of competition when properly administrated and it disables the myth that you must shoot net 63 or even net 70 to win a handicapped event...We hope you will join us at Cherokee Hills Resort and Casino on 2/23 and 2/24 where once again my money is on NET PAR TO WIN!!! |

McGoveran, Wilson Shoot +3.7, Share 1st pl. @ Emerald Falls |
Tulsans Ed McGoveran and Dell Wilson survived the brutality at the new Emerald Falls GC in Broken Arrow, OK to share first place money at the tour's third event of the 2008 season. The last two holes proved to be the difference as always on our tour as Trey Coursey (2.7 hcp)was the leader going into the par five 18th...Trey met his demise when he dumped his third shot into the water from 135 yds and carded a double bogey to finish at 77.3. Meanwhile, "Steady Eddie" (4.3 hcp) as we call him, bogeyed four of the last five holes while Dell Wilson (2.3 hcp) pars four of the last five holes to create the tie at 75.7. Mike Brownell (6.4) carded a 76.6 in another hard luck round that featured a hot start at -1 thru five holes before recording an 8 and 7 back to back on the par 4 6th and 7th...It marked the third consecutive time Mike has finished out of the money by less than 1 stroke. |

Tee Boxes 101 |
This is an attempt to shed some light on the use of tee boxes on the FairWay Tour...The goal of the tour is to provide an EQUITABLE and ENJOYABLE arena of competition for its members...Let's dissect the EQUITABLE part of this statement. The Tour uses USGA approved software along with its own policy and procedure proven over six years to be extremely accurate in handicapping its players. Senior players are allowed to choose which tee box they will play with their handicap adjusted accordingly using the USGA's Formulas. Herein lies the controversy with the younger players and also leads us to the ENJOYABLE part of our goal on the tour...It is simply not enjoyable for our older members to be hitting driver, 3-wood into a majority of the par 4's and 3-woods on many of the par 3's from the back tee box! The younger players (and older long ballers) need to understand this: YOUR HANDICAP IS ESTABLISHED FROM THE TEE BOX YOU PLAY FROM...there is an extreme penalty to be paid for low scores...the same players who are at odds with the current system would be at odds with their handicap if they were permitted to play the up tees because these tees are not designed for 300+ yard hitters. On the flip side, the back tees are not enjoyable for 240 yard hitters...The bottom line: After over 300 events there are no statistics to show one particular group of players has an advantage over the other. Let's give everyone a chance to have fun while competing and let the stats show that the current system is accurate and enjoyable for all! |

2008 Off To Windy Start As Proctor Holds Off Higgins At Winter Creek CC |
Tony Proctor, a 3.2 handicap from OKC, redeemed himself after a poor showing in the last Major of 2007 by making birdies on three of the first five holes in 2008 to win the year's first event with a net score of 70.8. The fast start held off Winter Creek member Jeff Higgins, the 2.9 handicapper finished 1.3 strokes back at 72.1 in a round that featured an eagle on the par 5 fifth hole. Both players separated themselves from the field with their consistent play under very windy conditions. Doug Lillard was the top Senior finisher as the 7 handicapper continues his improved play with a third place score of net 75 that included a solid 40 on the back nine despite bogeys on the final 2 holes. |

As Tour Director, my policy since we started the tour in 2001 has been not to participate in 36-hole majors...Since 2001, the FairWay Tour has had 32 Majors with net par or higher winning over 90% of the time...The tour has had over 100 events each year since it began in 2001 and net par or higher has won the majority of these events...the tour has paid over 1.5 million dollars in prize money and every check from every event has been honored...Regardless of these statistics, the tour had only 9 participants for Major #6 at Split Rail GC in Ft. Worth, TX on Dec.1st and 2nd, 2007...As a result, for the 2nd time in 30+ majors over six years, I participated(finished next to last the first time) in the event and I must say I had one of the most enjoyable and definitely the luckiest experience of my competitive career...On the last hole of the last day I made up three shots on 2 players after my badly pull-hooked second shot on the par 5 18th hole bounced off a tree and onto the green for eagle...The shot was headed for the hazard left of the green when fate stepped in the way...My competitor's third shot plugged into the lip of the bunker less than 1 yard from perfection and certain victory...Moments later, as I tapped in my birdie putt for the crazy victory at +3.9 over net par, I realized one thing... If You Don't Tee It Up You Can't Win!!! |

Cochran Wins Major #4 |
Tim Cochran of Woodward, OK fired a 2-round total of 3.3 under net par to win Major #4 and a total of $3345 at Dornick Hills CC. Tim fired a gross score of 2 under par 34 over the final 9 holes of the par 70 layout to secure the victory. Tim's 1 over par 71 on Sunday was his best score in 11 tries on the tour...his previous best round on tour was a 4 over par 75 at Boiling Springs last month, which also happens to be his home course. Congratulations on a great finish, especially the last nine holes! |
