Perfect Conditions at Fairfax as Johnston Fires -3 to Win; Buffalo Creek April 23rd Best Value So Far This Year

60 Year Old Charles Johnston finally broke out of his year-long slump to win the event at Fairfax GC Saturday and collect a total of $1740. Charles shed his back brace and took advantage of the perfect conditions, short course and extra strokes by electing to play the back tee box (Charles got 7 strokes from the front and 9 strokes from the back tee) and fired a gross score of +6 under perfect conditions at the 6,498 yard Fairfax Golf Club in Edmond, OK. The par 70 layout was there for the taking but yielded only three net scores under par on Saturday. Charles beat Robbie Gipson of Sallisaw by 2 tenths of a stroke. The difference came on the 18th, where Robbie chose to layup by hitting 4 iron off the tee on the reachable 514 yard par 5. The plan backfired as Robbie ended up bogeying the hole, which cost him first place in the Net, Sr. Net and Back Nine Nassau Divisions. Come join us next weekend at Buffalo Creek GC in Rockwall, TX, where the bent grass greens are currently in perfect condition and the $64 rate has been lowered to $35 for FairWay Tour players! In other news, the FairWay Tour is expanding this year into West Texas and Arkansas. On May 7th, we will be having our first West Texas event at Diamondback GC near Abilene, TX. Cody Cox, a college golf coach from Snyder, TX and obviously well connected in the area, will be helping secure players for the West Texas region. We are very pleased to announce that Jerad Harklau, a Tight Lies Tour player and golf instructor as well as a native of Arkansas, has joined the FairWay Tour staff and will be available for private instruction. Jerad will also be working the Arkansas Region and will have an event in Hot Springs Village at Ponce DeLeon GC on May 15th. This exclusive club is a must play! These young men are of high character and integrity. The opportunity presented by these guys is the main reason we chose to expand the tour. And finally, don't forget about our special events coming up later in the year. We will be playing TPC @ Las Colinas in early August and traveling to Las Vegas later in the season...stay tuned for all the details of this event! We hope to see you at the course very soon, because if you don't tee it up, you can't win!
