Bear Creek provides dramatics as Kelly wins with career round

Derek Kelly, who has played nearly every Dallas tournament over the last 2 years, won his first event in his last 27 starts on the FairWay Tour Saturday firing a career low gross score of 68. The more you play, the better you get, it is just sometimes a question of when...We must include Jarrod Epperson and Mark Dean in the drama as well. Epperson, an 11.5 hcp, made his first hole in one en route to a net score of 70.5 and his first paycheck. Dean made an eagle on number six, not enough to get him in the money for the tourney, but good enough for an $1815 skin! And to top it all off, the site of Ernie Harmon and Brad Barrick landing Ernie's helicopter, all the way from Enid, OK, next to the clubhouse to play the event! There have been 41 one day net events in 2013 with 40 different winners and 5 Super Majors with 5 different winners. There have also been 3 one day majors with three different winners. The second half of the season will be very interesting as there is going to be $25,000 in bonus cash up for grabs, going to the top 20 points winners, and added cash in the Tour Championship. We will be playing private Nicklaus tracks (Rock Creek), TPC tracks (Las Vegas Oct 26-27), a 1-Day Major in Shreveport Labor Day Weekend and the yet to be determined site of the tour championship among others. Our goal on the FairWay Tour is to provide quality tax deductible professional weekly competition for our members, and we have provided that with over $400,000 paid out so far this year when you include the $18K sitting in the bonus pool. There are already six players who have won more than $10K this year compared to 0 players on the tour of our nearest competitor. We hope to see you next week at Great Southwest GC on Thursday in Dallas or Grand Lake Estates GC in Houston Saturday because "If you don't tee it up you can't win!"
