Risdon schools field at Waterchase with 2-Day net score of -2.9 as FairWay Tour vet Bowditch takes Valero Texas Open for first PGA Tour win

Dustin Risdon is a very talented golfer. The former Canadian Tour player fired a gross score of 135 and a net score of 141.1 at Waterchase GC last weekend to take the winners's check for Super Major #2. Risdon added 6.1 strokes to his gross score and still won this event by three strokes! Sometimes the + golfers in the field get some help from Mother Nature as the more difficult the conditions become, the better chance they have of winning our events. Well...Sunday provided just that opportunity as it was a very tough day for the players. Saturday's picture perfect conditions gave way to howling wind, fast greens and a few "Sunday Major" pins. Player after player showed their frustration as they turned in their cards...explaining how there was no way to fire a low round with the conditions. Then came Risdon. "I spent the entire week out here charting these greens", Risdon said after his Sunday round of 68. "You can't be on the wrong side of the hole and shoot a good score with the conditions here right now." Sometimes there is more to shooting a low round than just hitting it down the fairway and knocking it on the green. Congratulations Dustin, your hard work paid off this week! On another note, there was a buzz in the clubhouse as guys watched Steven Bowditch, a player who competed along side them last year for three FairWay Tour events at the end of the PGA Tour schedule, get his first PGA Tour win at the Valero Texas Open! Congratulations to Dustin and Steven (add a few zeros on to the end of his check!) for getting the job done this week! Come join us next weekend at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, home of the OU Sooners, because "If you don't tee it up you can't win!"
