Turner Wins Texas Summer Championship

Jerod Turner, a +2 handicap from Ft. Worth, played near perfect golf under perfect conditions at Waterchase GC over the weekend to collect $3000 as the 1st place finisher in the FairWay Texas Summer Championship...His gross scores of 71-67 included a back nine 33 Sunday on the challenging layout in Arlington, TX. Jerod has been playing alot of golf lately as he has made it through Monday Qualifiers in successive weeks on the Nationwide Tour. Jerod fired a first round 68 on Thursday at the Utah Classic and was tied for 16th before a 75 on Friday left him one shot short of qualifying for the weekend. Turner lands in Dallas Saturday morning and makes his tee time for the noon start at Waterchase. As it turned out, he needed all three birdies on the back nine 33 Sunday which left him with a two round net total of -2.4, good for a 1 shot victory over Bryan DonCarlos of Woodward, OK, who finished at -1.4. The only other player to break net par over the weekend in the 20 player field was Ramon Romero, who finished at 143.1 on the par 144 layout. Jorge Gomez and Bobby Stark were also money winners with net scores of 144.9 and 146 respectively.
